Well its been a while since I posted on ECF. I used to be a pretty active poster here, however as I matured in the vape game, I fell into what I felt were consistent efficient devices and I kinda stopped chasing the next best vape. A few months ago I started looking into some of the new gear and I'm pretty impressed with some of the devices I'm seeing. I'm not a big cloud chaser, but am going to revoate my vape gear a bit. Got some RTAs in mind and a few regulated mods. As I start getting stuff in I'll post it on this thread along with my thoughts. Maybe there are some old school vapers out there who will find it interesting. Or maybe some new-schoolers will find the perspective of a guy who used to wrap kanthal around a silica wick, entertaining.

I used to be pretty active too. As in, active before going to work, after getting home, most of the evening while juggling other online activities and forums, and of course, before hitting the sheets, LOL.

It's been a while since I checked in too. Actually, it's only been a few months ... I've gone years in the past. Like you, I found a setup which "just works" for me after a few years and then drifted away. Unlike you, I'm not feeling an itch for new tech, just dropped in for a visit.

Good luck in your upgrade quest.

If you enjoyed your current vapes, you may find that the new stuff to be like the latest Ghostbusters movie: highly hyped, with more flashing colors, way way over rated and not nearly as good as the original. (Sorry for the outdated movie reference but I just watched it. I want the two hours back.) Some people enjoy it though. Give me wire hand wrapped around silica.

LoL. i noticed this while shopping for a small ego style setup for the wife. I currently have a broken dominant hand and had a cortisone injection in the opposite hand index finger so i cant move that atm either. leaves me limited. meaning a kanger subtank and stock coil on either cloupor mini or istick :(

Welcome back! SO curious what it was that kept you satisfied so long!

To be honest there were 2 things that I can point to which kinda put me in a good place with minimal effort.
1. Was the invention of the sub tank (Kanger, Aspire and more recently the Smok Spirals tank)
2. Was the Joyetech Ego AIO.

After a while I guess I just kinda settled into a groove and got kinda tired of trying to keep up with everything. I’m happy to say that I’m still several years off cigarettes thanks to vaping.

The gear that I see now seems to be at a price and effort level that makes me want to try a few new things (tanks, mods, accessories). Its amazing to see how things have changed in just a couple of years.

I've been vaping for about a year and a half, when I first started I had to use nickel coils and the vaporizers have improved and I can use SS for temp mode. I kind of liked the DNA mods that were coming out but thought they were pretty expensive. I did buy the Voopoo and think it's great for the price. I've got the Smok G-Priv, the touch screen is great, again it handles all the SS coils, a newer model has come out at a lower price. I'll also mention the Smok tanks that have come out, the TFV8 as well as the TFV12, I'm using the RBA decks with all of them, the TFV12 is a bit of overkill but it shows what can be done, the TFV8 is my every day tank and I have 3 of them.

Sorry, I should've volunteered:
I'm using a ProVari v2.5 with full size Aspire Nautilus. And for a little over a year have been using exclusively home brewed eLiquid. I bought a backup Provari just as stock was running out, and over time I'm building a stockpile of spare Nautilus Aspires & coils for them. As I said, it just works. For me anyway.

Nice. Good to see some provaris are still kicking. For me the thing that interests me now is some of the single coil RTA that have come out. I can remember my first Kayfun (version 1). And it was a huge step up from Cartomizers of top coil clearomizers. After that though many of the other RTA (like the Aqua) which came out disappointed me (cost, wait times, performance). When sub tanks like the Aspire and Kangers came out I found that was super effective way to vape. For me right now my favourite is the smok spirals. It just works and I like the RBA section. I’ve never been a huge fan of buying replacement coil heads. I’m also quite excited to try some of these new coils. Back in the old days a 28 gauge kanthal MicroCoil was standard for me. I have to try some of these new coils.

Welcome back.

My standby for rebuilding Protank coils was 30 gauge Kanthal and I could hit 1.5 Ohms every time. I still have an unopened roll of 30 and one of these rainy days I'm planning to use it for twisted coils.

I also still have several feet of silica wick, six packs of those little bamboo skewers and two rolls of cotton bandage gauze.

If you'd have told me two years ago that I'd be vaping at 40 Watts on a coil measuring ~0.40 Ohms I'd have given you the name of a good psychiatrist.
