I have been lurking since May, decided it was time to jump in and start posting. I am a prescribing health care practitioner, but unfortunately had never been able to give up my smoking habit of 30 years. I had rejected e-cigs based on FDA info...cause that's what we health care practitioners are supposed to do, I guess...follow the official advice out there. But I had tried Wellbutrin, Chantix, patches, gum, hypnosis and acupuncture all without success in quitting smoking. Then a fellow practitioner suggested that maybe I should do some more research into e-cigs. Luckily I found this forum.
I got my first ecig kit in May and within days I was off the cigarettes...would like to say forever, but I slipped up a few times. I started with the KR808D type model and just recently decided to try the Ego-T. I think that is all I have needed...to find the right e-cig...because so far I am loving the Ego-T. Really wanted to get a Darwin (or maybe a Provari), but decided it was too big a cash outlay right now. We'll see. Maybe in the near future I will spring for one of those.
I have done a LOT of research since I got my first e-cig and am increasingly convinced that I have done the right thing. I started recommending them to patients who have tried other ways to quit without success, but unfortunately for reasons I can't disclose had to stop. Gotta keep my job, you know? Maybe, in light of the UK government actually encouraging them now, better sense will prevail someday in the U.S. too.
