From what I've read that the lavatube is from China, but there are sooooooooooo many copy-cats out there and just as good. Yeah get a provari or the like, but I'm on a budget with being me disabled and on SSI. I'm done with the twists, I already had 2 broke on me with it falling on the floor then the button gets dislodged. I tried to fix it, even taking it apart, but when I did the wire tore and now it's junk.

It seems for the lava is the next step above that.

Vari-Tube 18650 APV

Apollo VTube Kit

2 examples of the next step above ego's. I don't want a starter kit as I know the bat to get.

CGR18650CH Panasonic 18650 Li-Mn-Li-ion CGR18650CH High Drain 10A Rechargeable IMR Hybrid Battery Cell

I need a charger too. So hell, the starter kits are cheaper than buying your own setup it seems I've hit 7 stores but don't know if their version of the lavatube is legit.

I'm at a loss right now, I would have probably bought the Apollo Vtube now but they only have it in mini, and the whole kit is $55 with the 30% code off. That price is great, with the chrome "lava tube" and you get a bat and a charger with it too. The only problem I have is hitting the the owner, he top posts like a beast and for searching if it's good quality it comes of him responding and of course he's going to give it rave reviews.

So here is the deal. I'm smoking out of a twist right now, but 2 broke on me and want to upgrade. Instead of the big boys, it seems I can get a lavatube instead. I don't care about the led screen showing what voltage I'm running compared to my carto or tank that I run, but I just hope they won't break on me, as it has a side cap, instead of all the twisters/spinners bolt mods. They are fine just turn the nob to get what you want. But I need quality. I'm in the new fourm w/o 5 posts it could go in general with more traffic but I'm stuck here.

I wouldn't recommend getting past the twists untill you cure your habit of dropping these things. Not to be mean, but they are all made with electronics and will become bricks if you drop them like bricks. If your on a budget stick with the twist, lot's of happy twist vets out there.

Mabye I got 2 bad batches, I got mine from madvapes and another 1300 from myvaprestore, but they are just nor durable as both while falling out of the pocket, the button gets impounded and at a slant, hit google or efc, the button is shot. Hence why I don't want to deal with that, as I know this will last me. I get it that everybody will say provari but I can't spend the $$$$ to go there and want a middle man and it seems the lavatube is in between the ego and that.

What voltage are you running with the Twist? The 3.7v "Bolt" mod from Smok-tech looks pretty sturdy and they are getting lower in price. You can add an Evolv "Kick" extension, if I'm not mistaken, for variable wattage..either when you get the bolt or further down the road.

You just won't have a display. Just an aluminum housing and a fire button. Just thinking out loud...

*edit* POSEIDON beat me to the punch about a "kicked" tube mod like the bolt or silver bullet. The "kick" apparently is an electronic add-on that fits inside the tube. Once set it will give consistent power even if you use atomizers with different ohms resistance, making it super easy to switch out cartos and what not. Set and forget. Seems pretty simple.

I currently have the twist and the bolt in my day to day vapes. I have been quite pleased with the performance of both, but the Bolt is my go to at the moment. Mainly due to the 18650 battery it holds (with the extension). When contemplating my next purchase, I considered many options from the chinese. However, even though they were half the price of the king Provari, I had to factor in the chance of it dieing early....and having to buy another. With that in mind, I did decide to go broke on the Provari. Looking back, knowing what I do now, I would have bought it in the first place. Tho starting out I wasnt sure vaping was what I really wanted. Now it is as much a hobby as it is an entry to an almost secret club lol...at least from what I have seen in the real world out there. Alot of great people here that are more than willing to help you find what you need to know!

So first question. What is your budget?
What voltage are you using with the twists?
A bolt and fresh battery will push you about 4.1V depending on load. How important is the additional .7v?
Is size an issue? or durability? battery life? stealth? Are you trying to match a device?
Since your on SSI, do you have any physical problems that might make certain devices unusable?
and last, maybe invest in a lanyard so your stuff doesn't hit the floor so often.

Good luck

If you dont play with the voltage too much(and dont mind a new system) a kicked silver bullet is a good solid(Ive dropped mine at least a bajillion times) pv. Plus realitivly speaking it isnt too expensive a rig.

Huh? Every time I've put a kicked silver bullet together for purchase, it's been just as much as a Provari! The mod itself is less expensive, but by the time you add the batteries, charger, kick, kick sleeve, etc., you are just a few bucks short of getting a Provari.

I like the idea of the Vamo, but I'm not too big of a fan of ordering from China - shipping is expensive and it may take a while to get the product here, if it gets here at all. OK City Vapes has the Vamo for more than you'd pay from the Chinese dealers, but at least you have some assurance that you are buying from a reputable US dealer.

You could try resoldering the top of the egos? Not sure if anyone has had success with that or not.

The thing to keep in mind with cheaper VV devices is they are cheap. They will break easy and they are generally not dependable or accurate. Alot of them use Pulse Width Modulation and the voltage setting is calculated to Vavg instead of Vrms which results in an offset output range and sketchy accurancy. The VV Gripper for instance, is supposed to out put 3.0 to 6.0 volts but in realty it's more like 4.2 to 6.8.

Imho, a Bolt or other solid metal mod maybe a good idea. I love my bolt and adjusting my Ohms accomplishes the same thing as adjusting voltage.

I have, but they are very, very small wires in a confined space. Not very easy to work with, but it can be repaired. Mine came apart accidentally when trying to pull a stardust apart, yanked the wires right out and pulled the whole top off the ego.

I have a lambo 2.0 mini vari volt 18350 ego/510 from myfreedomsmokes.com which came at a decent in between cost to the provari mini or zmax rev 2's.

Nice lightweight device and great on screen battery meter. Easy operation. I'm enjoying it thoroughly. Still looking to get a vamo though to have a full size and a mini.

A good thing about getting a v-tube from Apollo is the 1 year warranty. I had the stainless for close to 6 months and was able to get a replacement when I had a issue with the threads. I dropped mine more then once with no issues just scratches. I was just wasn't a big fan of there kit didn't care for there charger or batteries but they may sell a better kit with better charges and batteries nowadays.
