I am on a FB group and i see people on there all the time asking people to send them liquid. I dont get it. You had the money to smoke so why do you not have the money to buy liquid? Am I missing something? I have given some away because I just did not like it, but never to someone that has asked. It was more of a pay it forward thing. Helping a friend get started. Seriously if I am missing something please fill me in.

I've seen that as well just not on a FB group as I rarely check/subscribe to mine on a regular basis. I've seen this when I've visited a few shows of the "vape Famous" wannabe's. Its sad that when no "Freebies" are offered that everyone drifts away off to "Win" something else, I really don't get it as I see the possibility of winning as a bonus if nothing else and not a reason to visit anywhere.

It works though, one particular that I don't care for has built an empire on this concept of freebies. Personally it turns my stomach right round really to think that this is the mindset of society rather then work for what you want and rely on no one. I do and plan to share my DIY with close friends and the likes but it will be clearly understood that this is done because I choose to do so and for no other reason, begging will not be part of that reason. Might as well accept it that this is the way society is.

I'm sure a few will light to torches and brandish the pitch forks over this discussion, but as usual just my opinion on it all.

Not to be out of line here, but why are you participating in the group if you don't 'approve' of its practices? I mean, what is it about people sharing that upsets you? Or is it that you despise poverty, and perceive this more as some sort of electronic panhandling? Again, why would that bother you? You've obviously got the means to buy your own juice, and don't appear willing to give any of it away, which is fine. But then, why would you complain about people that want to ask/give for free?

You are aware, of course, that Facebook is pretty much a den of intellectual inequity, right? I'm not saying it's totally lacking in substance, but a lot of what you're seeing on that page is probably straight from the keyboards of kids who are too young to even walk into a vape shop and buy liquid (no offense kiddies, I was there once too), or those who are old enough to buy, and old enough to want to be wannabe hipsters, but young enough to lack the means. Judgments aside, people in those boats obviously have to resort to asking for handouts.

I guess the overriding question is, if you consider yourself a "vaper of refinement", why are you still hanging out at K-Mart? :)

Because the group also has valued information. Information that I like and use. I just find it odd and then people on there get mad cause they get scammed. I just don't get how one could afford to smoke but can't seem to find the funds to vape.

I just love the people who will start out by saying they smoked two packs a day but if you bring up a premium juice they will tell you how they can't possibly afford it .

Yesterday I read a thread (in another non-vaping forum) by a 19-year-old girl who wanted every poster to send her some money. Her goal was to raise $500 so she and her boyfriend could get their first apartment and move in together, because they are so deeply in love. No joke, she was serious, and seemed seriously surprised by some of the less-than-favorable replies. I was shocked by the few supporting her "charitable" endeavor.

Is this what is known as "crowd funding?" Getting a million idiots to each give a dollar so you can be instantly rich and not have to grow up or get a job or do anything?

Wish we had that when I was a kid.

I noticed that in myself and many others honestly...I've spent time this past week shopping for a tank I want, ticked off because I'm paying $2 more for it than in the past...when I used to smoke $12 A DAY worth of cigarettes. Human nature I suppose...we often cheap out on the small stuff, lose the big picture!

I'm on benefit (welfare I think it's called in the US) and one of the reasons I started vaping was to better spend the money and also like many of us to get off tobacco and the harm it was doing I'd been smoking long enough I couldn't ignore what it was doing to me. We don't have a lot of spare money and for me and my wife both of us vaping our budget is down to £22 a month about $32 I think but I have never asked for or wanted free stuff I've lost enough pride and dignity not working. There is a culture amongst a small minority of "why pay if you can get it for free" it isn't an attitude I recognise or understand but it's there, like most on here I've passed on old devices, tanks and liquid to friends and family more liquid lately as I've just started diy'ing to save more money and have managed to create some to me horrendous liquid but others have liked it.

Each to their own I guess but it's not something I would support from strangers and the attitude behind some of the people doing it is one I'd like to see die a quick death though sounding hypocritical from me you pay to play can't pay don't play.

I don't know that it has so much to do with social or economic standings for the OP but rather merely an observation on the issue current that there are many that do this. I don't recall him claiming the status of a "Vaper of Refinement" however I would not know how to tell one if I did meet one, I'm more then sure they do not have E-Juice snifters much like they do for Brandy. I often times attend events and groups not for those that would see it turned in to a rolling free charity but rather for the valuable information that at times is posted and or the friends that I've meet along the way.

I guess everyone has a purpose in life and to see it to what end is their considerations and not mine, I can't vouch or speak for them as I do not know what they are thinking nor will I claim to. I wouldn't classify face book as intellectual anything as it is a social media site and used to share ideas and thoughts amongst a group of people, it is not a think tank and never claimed itself to be such. Inequality is only as thin as rice paper, society as a whole sets the means for justifications and labels for society therefore by association there is no inequality only inferiority of judgment passed by others on others.

To assume that the ones requesting the freebies are kids is an assumption based on limited or little information collected. I know many that do the same and are of age to buy their own e-liquid however given the wide diversity of flavors and qualities there may be other motives that lack consideration in your assessment of the reasoning behind asking.

I'm not going after anyone imparticular however this outlines how quickly fallacies both spoken and written text can cause issues, not only for individuals but also groups as well. I've seen this happen with the community as well when attempting to handle political issues with the FDA which can have major impacts on both sides that we may not like to endure. I understand why the OP is annoyed however as I like to say its just "Water off a duck's back" and that is in this case the way it should be viewed. No matter what is said it will not change the mindset of people, nor will it matter in the end in truth.

It is the same everywhere, even here. You wade through the buffet table and take what is for you. The person showing off the mod with the Power Rangers wrap...Well, I move on.

To each their own.

I, also, find flavors that I just don't like. I give them to new vapers. I have done it a ton, helps them, helps me.
