I saw a couple, one of which I know to be a perma-loser, start a GoFundMe page for their wedding. Seriously. Maybe if they hadn't spent the money on partying, there may have been enough left to pay for a wedding. The kid's father is a lawyer too, so they are not "institutionally" poor. Palm up, folks - that's the new American way.

Them doing it doesn't bother me that much, as it usually means I have their attention for a bit and can show off my new mod and the Power Rangers wrap I got for it.

Being a vaper doesn't make you us a special breed, and it cuts across whole swaths of people of different backgrounds, socio-economic status, ability, character and taste.* Some might be scraping by and caught short by a car repair, some are generous and some might be taking anything not nailed down. I don't see anything particulary endemic to vaping about it.

Where I do get bummed -- and think it is endemic to vapers -- is when someone has switched and has their gratitude for what vaping has done for them taken advantage of. Their enthusiasm leads to them wanting to pay-it-forward or help others switch, and they're quickly sucked dry only to see their kit end up on ebay or taken as a backup for a backup.

Frenchfry1942 above me kinda has it right, and not just because he's a gifted actor (Try not to fanboy out on him, but you should check out his movie Hellboy so they make more): The term "lost causes" was coined for a reason. Connect with the people you like, help the people who need it, and try not to let yourself or others get screwed. Not much to do about the rest.

*Though considering many of us started smoking in the 1st place, the Bell Curve might lean towards stupid.

You know now that yall day something about these go fund me things I did see a friend of a friend post one for money to help her and her non working husband move cause they needed a new start. I about lost my mind. And they got the money. If I had such low standards for my life I guess I would do that so I had more money. Guess this is the way of pan handling. At least with pan handlers they are out there in the weather not behind a computer.

I do understand what you are saying but I love helping people get interested in vaping. Whether they are asking for help or just information. You never really know what one person's personal situations are. There maybe very good reasons that they are asking. Of course you are going to get the people that just simply want something for free but you can't say no because you might miss the chance to help someone that really needs it. Just my 3¢ (inflation) :)

There was one on here awhile back didn't have much money and was having equip problems. I sent a 60ml bottle of juice a new vivi nova and extra heads priority mail to them, To this day I have never heard another word and have never seen them on the forum since. Not so much as a thank you, kiss my ..., or go to hell. I learned my lesson.

Klynn to not even get a thank you is bad it takes a minute to do and it's a reason why I keep what generosity I can spare to locals who I know are serious about vaping but I know a couple of people that have been members of pass it forward schemes that have seen their donates end up for sale. Most if us wouldn't see a vaper we know go without if we could help but strangers is a risk for many of us who are very limited in what we can give.

My first ecig a cigalike jacvapour Vpc kit I still see every week going past the house on his way to work amazed it still works I've tried to catch him before he goes too far past my house to see if he wants any of the liquid I don't like, but he's too fast for me.

I am all about helping people. I have given away a lot of stuff. But when someone puts up a picture of empty bottles and says hey can someone send me so juice I ran out and don't get paid for 2 days I have a problem with that? Ok first off it would take more than two days for it to even deliver and do you not know how to budget? I have a ton of stores by me, but during the week I really don't have time to get to them. On the weekend I take a look at what I have and go get what I think I might run out of for the coming week. I don't just do that with vape stuff but with household items groceries everything.

I don't mind helping anyone but sometimes after you do it so many times with the same result you get burnt out. I have people calling expecting me to give them eliquid. I finally had to say NO!

See: "Wasabenero a delightful blend of Wasabi and habenero in a 100VG 36 nic base" - that'll drop the beggin dead in it's tracks.

Of course you do have room to get creative. I could mix up a batch of Cinnamon Danish Swirl/Absinthe/555 Menthol/Blueberry/Pizza. Nic optional. If they complain tell them it's only Vanilla, they must be doing it wrong, leave out the explanation of what "it" is.

I belonged to a FB group and there were always one or two people that would post:
"Does anyone know if xxx location is open? Just ran out of juice and I might have to buy a pack of cigs if I can't get any"
Mind you- this was always at 6 PM on a Friday night when they knew damned well that the shop was closed. The majority of the time it ended up with them asking other locals for freebies without so much as a cent offered in return. It made me crazy enough to leave the group.
