I'm not a big rda user. I have a few but tend to prefer tanks.

I'm not a magma fan. It leaks and it's a pain to drip on. I can get better flavor out of some of my tanks too.

I do have a mutation x v4 and it's easier to build on and drip imo. Flavor is at least as good, better imo. You can also open up the sides if you want to chuck clouds.

I even preferred my helios to my magma.

I was looking at the mutation 4 but it looks a little confusing to build on atm. Ive never had an rda. Thanks for the advice!! Ill take that as - 1 for the Magma ;)

The Magma has really excellent flavor. The leaking is mainly if you fill the deep well more than half full. I wouldn't recommend taking the Magma out and about, but for at-home, it's excellent. You'd want to put a spare o-ring (15mm) under the airflow control ring, to keep it from spinning freely -- with an o-ring under it, you can screw/unscrew the top cap without disturbing your airflow setting. If you like a tightish draw, the Magma is excellent, but it can also be opened up quite well.

Haven't tried it; I'm only interested in RDAs that can be pretty well closed down, for a tight draw, which also have a deep well. The Magma is stupendously easy to build on, and get a great vape from.

I've also tried a Veritas, and it's ok; I'm told it really shines when you increase the power or decrease the resistance. It's not as easy to build for, but it does lend itself to vertical coils very nicely, whether single or dual. Also a deep well, and if you leave just a sliver of the airhole showing, it can provide a nice tightish draw. Hard to make it leak.

Oh, I nearly forgot -- the one I just ordered last night. The Achilles, it's supposed to be a good RDA for a beginner, though I don't know for sure yet. I'm told it has a nice tight draw -- and it holds 2.5ml! That's as much as my starter T3S tanks! :D I'm really looking forward to it!!

I really like my Tobh but it doesn't have the deepest well and you do gotta deal with some minor leakage/condensation on and around the airflow holes. It's pretty versatile though in that it's good for higher builds with the airflow blocked off a bit or lower builds with wide open draw if you're in the mood to fog your room up.

The magma doesn't have as much airflow but I'd imagine probably has better flavor (haven't personally tried it but just due to fact airflow is coming up through the coil and smaller), plus it's threaded instead of a push fit with o-rings so it will be less messy and less maintenance in the long run.

Clone or Authentic, and do you like a wide open draw? My favorite is the Tobeco Baal RDA clone, but I like a lot of air flow for a deep lung hit. I have the Tobh (2.0), Magma, and Freakshow, but the Baal is my go to RDA (with the wide black tip). Also, might want to consider something other than the iStick 50w right now. A lot of reports of them firing on their own, including mine.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. Its probably gonna be a clone. Cheaper. Budget. But I'm thinking the tobh. A little leakage is fine. I'll only be Dripping at home. When I head out it will be the St mini or my nautilus. Picked the istick because of the budget atm. It'd be great to get a more powerful device but I'm tryin to upgrade alot at one time. Had my mvp for too long. I need something that I can experiment with.

The iStick 50w is a great budget device, but given the quality control issues some of us are having, I would recommend the iStick 30w instead. Coming from an MVP 2.0 (I have one too), the 30 should have plenty of power for you. My iStick 50w turns itself on in addition to firing on its own. If you get the 50w please do not leave it unattended (including overnight charging) and remember to remove the atomizer when you don't plan to use it for a while.

^Listen to what Nick N is saying! Honestly, I would spend another $10 and buy the new Joyetech eVic-VT, which has temperature control as well! There are prebuilt nickel coils available for the Subtank Mini that will last a longgg time. This is just my two cents though. Also, my vote goes to the Magma RDA. I used my Magma clone as my daily atty (it was the only one I had lol) for 5 months and enjoyed every second of it. It is a tad leaky though.

Here is a link to the new Joyetech mod!

Also, the innokin cool fire IV would be right up your ally!! It also has a built in battery. I certainly trust innokin much more than eleaf and even joyetech. I hope this helps :D

The istick 50 had one bad run towards the beginning. Eleaf actually pulled the batch in question. Order dates after March should be fine.
Source: I did about a metric ton of research before ordering my dad one towards the end of April. I also used it myself for a month before giving it to him (he's new) - no autofiring, no self-turning-on, and yes I actually dripped juice on the button on purpose to see if it would cause autofiring. It's fine. He got it from me a week or so ago & loves it. --- I'd say the Tobh for a rookie. It simply is what it is, decent flavor & vapor, decent capacity, easy build. It's less "specialized" at any one given thing, but that kinda makes it a good starting point. If you vape it as a first RDA, you'll quickly see what one part of it you want more attention to (vapor, flavor, airflow, etc) --- and coming from a St Mini, the flavor will blow you away even on a Tobh:)

Just be aware the batteries inside the istick are never what they claim to be. I opened mine up and they're marked as 15A rating. Still not bad, but not up to the "specs" published either - I mean, yes you can fire down to .3ohms, yes you can go up to 50w, just can't safely do both at once LOL just be mindful & do the math :)

That is great that Eleaf corrected the problem, but how does one know if the vendor they are buying from has new stock vs old stock? Did Eleaf contact every single vendor (or distributor) and request they send their remaining stock back? I hate to be a "Negative Nelly" about it, but I wouldn't want to give the OP a false confidence that all is well with the iStick 50w just yet. As someone said in a different thread, until these new stock iStick 50w have some kind of markings on the sealed box that they are the v2 or improved or whatever, I wouldn't trust it.
