Beginner Wanting to buy a K101

I'm looking into a K101 instead of my $40 eGo ctwist. But my question is if I purchase the K101 what will it include? Will I have to purchase the smaller battery inside of it and coils? Will I need to buy an adapter to connect it to another tank or are these included? If someone could please tell what it includes and how to assemble this e cig that'd be great! Thanks!

It is a mechanical, something I don't think a newbie should start out with. I wouldn't recommend it for a first time user. I have been vaping for a little over 9 mos and am still not into mechanicals. You have to know what you are doing as there are no safety features with the K101. I would suggest this http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm, this iTaste V3.0 VV/VW Express Kit : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more or this https://www.mtbakervapor.com/e-cig-starter-kits/innokin-itaste-mvp-v2-0-starter-kit/ for someone just starting out. But that is your choice & yes you would have to purchase batteries, tanks & charger seperately with the K101. Good luck & VAPE ON:vapor:

You will need to get

1. Batteries - in one of the following sizes 18350 18490 18500 18650 ( the 18 means how wide it is so these are 18 mm the next two numbers ie:35, 49, 50, 65 is the length in mm and the 0 on the end means cylindrical shape)

2. a charger for the batteries ie: Nitecore Intellicharger (this is my recommendation)

3. the K101 is normally threaded for 510 and ego both (similar to your ego twist battery)

4. optional - is a "kick" module to make it VW and have the safety options (will need to get 18500 batteries as a kick and an 18650 will not both fit

One thing to think of when going to a mechanical PV is when you put a fully charged battery (4.2v) the strength of the vape will be strong and as you use it and the battery discharges it will get progressively weaker (unless you have the kick module). You will also need to carry a multimeter with you to monitor the volts on the battery because you will not want to discharge the battery below 3.3 volts (unless you have a kick - it will shut down when you get to 3.3 volts)

My personal recommendation would be to get an MVP2 that is a self contained mod that does not need all the extra's to make it work and is available from $40 and up, and spend some time and money learning to do rebuildable atomizers (drippers, protank coils, or even a kayfun lite+, I just got one (tobeco clone, I know, I know) and it creates incredible taste and clouds of vapor with 2.1 ohm coil which will work on any regulated APV) before getting involved with a mechanical PV

hope this helps

I agree with Txaggiesaunt, a mod wouldn't be the best choice for a beginner. Have some fun with the eGo and do some research on the side as far as mods go. I started out with the eGo c-twist starter kit this summer, took it with me on a road trip and loved it! I bought the K100 on a whim when the eGo broke, but I do love it. I have no complaints on it; I guess I really like the weight to it... definitely less fragile, and lockable to prevent it from firing when not in use. To answer your question, it's bundled on that blue case with the mod itself, two cartomizers, a drip shield, drip tip, and a charger. Some of the newly packaged kits also include a safety protection chip, from what I've heard, but mine didn't have one. I've asked around and it ranges from $50-$60 depending on where you go or where you live I suppose, but the price range shouldn't be so much.

Anyway good luck to you if you do decide to take the plunge. I guarantee you won't be disappointed, but definitely do research! Happy vaping! :)

Agreed - not a good beginner choice, even moreso if you are talking about any of those K101 kits on FT that include two gray batteries and a charger. The batteries are total mysteries - if you can't research them you don't use them. And the charger is junk. So your $40.00 K101 kit just about doubled in price - because you will have to buy known good batteries and a good charger to go with.

What is your objection to starting with the Twist instead?

I got a k100 for 47 $ and it came with 2 battery's 1 18350 and 1 18650 a charger and case it also came with 2 drip tip cartridges but those don't hold enough e-liquid for me so I use a pro tank or gs-h2 on mine . if you are happy with the ego c twist I would just get a big 1300 mah vision spinner . I have 1 and I love it I use it way more then my k100 because it fits on the same lanyard i had from my ego -c twist. you can get one for 30.00 dollars at vapegenie.

thank jeebus for the search feature! i was about to take the plunge on one of these after 3 weeks of vaping and i'm going to not go for it. i'm a big fan of safety features as i don't want to blow my face up doing something simple and dumb.

Good decision man. Mechanical mods have their place, but it just isn't something someone new to vaping should take on. There are a lot of things to become familiar with, like battery/charger safety, etc... I swear, it drives me nuts when people ask what is a good beginner mech. It is an oxymoron. Get more familiar with vaping, do some research, and then get one.

Well i mean common sense practice... a little research and your there... you don't necessarily need to vape awhile to get into it. he needs to go read some charts and learn! Get the k100 get a battery that suits your needs DONT GO SUB OHMs until you understand ohms law... i like to tell people newer to stay above 1.5 ohms :) And you should be fine :) Happy vaping
