I change hardware at a glacial pace. When I find something that works I just stick with it. I was dripping on Joye 306s for a long time until the Kanger Sub, which for me was one of those revolutionary hardware releases that changed everything about how I vaped.

I think I stuck with that Kanger for less than a year though, because I wanted dual coils and more airflow and the ability to push more watts. I think I used .5 builds at around 28w in the Sub. The Cthulhu was my tank after trying several that were around at the time. I used the Cthulhu for a looooong time. It had a tiny deck, you had to wick it just so and less was more with wick in the channels, it had a ridiculous capacity so you were always filling it, and the top fill was easy to cross thread, but man the flavor was on point. The Cthulhu was good to about 47.5w with .25 ohm builds. There are still 6 Cthulhus in my vape cabinet. It was so good that I put up with its deficiencies until the OBS Crius came out.

I literally just retired the Crius this week if that tells you how long I hang on to hardware. I had the v1, knocked it over on the desk and shattered the glass, got a v2 with the velocity style deck, and I've vaped it ever since. The Crius was nice to build on, a little tricky getting the wick balance right between leaking through the airholes and not wicking but you got the feel for it and would only occasionally mess your build up. It had better capacity, an easy top side fill, flowed more air but was still good shut off for restricted lung hits, and the flavor was almost as good as the Cthulhu. The Crius was most comfortable for me around 55w with .25 ohm builds.

It's not that I didn't try to adopt new tanks along the way. Got the original Aromamizer and gave it a chance but hated it and ended up giving it to a friend. Picked up the Wotofo Troll RTA when it came out, but was disappointed and stuck to the Crius. To be fair to the Troll, it's a better tank than I thought. Last week I pulled it out of the vape cabinet, cleaned it up and threw a fresh build on it. Still not crazy about this compared to the Crius, let's try something different. Pushed the power to 65w on a .25 ohm build and ok, this thing is not so bad after all. It needs more wick than I'm used to, because both the Cthulhu and Crius wanted as little as you could manage without ending up with a leaky tank. The Troll wants you to stuff those holes or it leaks on fill, and it seems to wick just fine with more cotton than I'm used to using. So now I think I will actually get my money's worth out of the Troll all these years later.

I just got a Advken Manta in the mail after watching about a hundred hours of Youtube videos to see what new-ish tank I wanted to try lol. Decent sized deck to build on so I used twisted even though I've been a 26ga Kanthal guy all these years. Used more wick than I am used to, and immediately dismantled and rewicked because it leaked like crazy on first fill. Went back in with even more wick and it was better, but still leaks on fill. I find that if I turn the tank upside down once I've got the top threaded on, and then immediately hit it 4-5 times it doesn't leak. Next build I will use even more wick so I don't have to play games when I refill the tank.

I'm a restricted lung hit guy through and through, so I run this Manta about 80% of one hole open. It's a little whistle-y, but it vapes great at 70w on a .25 ohm build, wicks really well, and has better capacity than the Troll. Or it just uses less juice than the Troll, whatever, I fill it less. The tank feels good, everything is machined well and screws in buttery smooth. The deck is nice to build on and feels good. It wants more wick than you'd think, but maybe that's me coming from years on tanks where less was more. The drip tip is pleasant and I probably won't change it. Best of all the flavor. The Manta has flavor that is the best I've had since Cthulhu days, and that is the most important thing for me in a tank.

Most won't have any idea who I am, some will remember. This is Dr. Vapenstein signing off, see you in another 5 years or so when I'm done with this Manta lol

Yeah, I'm using a Manta right now in my rotation and agree, that it has great taste, goes together easily, has a nice build deck, and is one of the few RTAs out there that comes in a nice shiny copper color. But it is a little fussy with the leaking and is very sensitive to the amount of cotton in the air openings as you said. The air openings in the deck are very close to the wick openings and you have to be scrupulous about keeping the cotton away from the air openings. It seems to help to close the air inlets when filling. There is a youtube video that shows where to add extra o-rings. On the next refill, I will try your technique of turning it upside down and hitting it a few times immediately. The manufacturer has a video that recommends filling it no more than half full! It makes me wonder if all RTAs with bottom air inlets are prone to leaking.

well I now have 3 of these Mantas. It really is a flawless vape.

In regards to no juice flow control, I have abandoned the upside down top cap tightening. I found two things about that. One, if you're not wicked right it just makes the deck even more flood-y. Two, Now that I have more than one of these I've had a chance to build on it more. I use way more wick on these than I ever have. Wick that absolutely would have clogged my old tanks. You want those ports packed but still pliable. It took a couple tries because everything I ever knew about wicking an rta said that less was more. After dumping quite a few tanks on fill I got mad and decided to show that rta who was boss and just absolutely stuffed it. And I didn't get a dry hit, it wicked.

So now I find on fill like one in three times I get a little juice start to seep through the afc, so I just hit it a quick three times on one airhole to reestablish the vacuum. Other than filling, the tank is dry as can be and doesn't seem to have much in the way of condensation either.

Great tank. Flavor absolutely on point. Ordered a QP Design Fatality M25 last night in gold for the matchy matchy on one of my Asmodus stabwood mods, so I'm looking forward to trying that but my three new Mantas aren't going anywhere anytime soon.

got a resin Manta and it's as great as the original. It may be my imagination but it seems to dissipate heat better than the std Manta. World's best $20 rta.

However today the one thing that could diminish my Manta enthusiasm happened. I received the first of two QP Designs Fatality M25 rtas that I ordered this week in the mail. Best. Rta. Ever. So glad I bought two of them.

The Mantas aren't going anywhere, I still love them. The Fatality is just otherworldly though and if you could make a better rta than this I don't see how. This tank doesn't have a single compromise. Everything about it is fantastic.

I now have five Fatality M25s now and I don't regret any of them. Overall best tank ever made.

I have picked up one Deathwish Modz Isolation Tank since then, and while it doesn't knock the Fatality off the perch for me, it is without a doubt the best flavor I ever had in an rta. Nothing is even close IMO. It's not as nice to use day in and day out as the Fatality, but the flavor is just ridiculous.

Nope... I recently got a good ol Lemo 2 and it never leaks (bottom air) In fact, it has the opposite issue... not enough juice flow (but I've got it working now) These RTAs have several issues so they are either love or hate kind of thing... but at least it doesn't leak like my other RTAs.

I very rarely have leaking rtas, each of mine has different issues I have overcome, some like a different cotton, some I actually use left over trim in the the juice holes, don't pack it too tight and you will find it works perfectly as long as you have thinned the tails to allow the capillary action to take place,if it leakes just use a miniature screwdriver and a spare bit of cotton, it's the only way I can get the rba deck on my cleito 120 to work, chain vaping like a champ now and no leaks

Yes I totally agree, the manta has a weird triangular shape juice hole for the wicking to go in,so more cotton is actually better as long as its trimmed correctly and if you get a leak you can try the pin trick to force the cotton into the dam, otherwise just pack a little bit of trim into the wicking hole.
Yeah I abandoned the upside down undo ,tighten cap open afc method a long time ago, although I did have some success in creating a vacuum on certain rtas but on others seemed to have the opposite effect
