These tests below only note the ESTIMATED ratings for these batteries at the time I tested them. Any battery that is not a genuine Samsung, Sony, Murata, LG, Panasonic, Molicel, or Sanyo can change at any time! This is one of the hazards of using “rewrapped” or batteries from other manufacturers so carefully research any battery you are considering using before purchasing.

Misusing or mishandling lithium-ion batteries can pose a SERIOUS RISK of personal injury or property damage. They are not meant to be used outside of a physically and electrically protected battery pack. Never exceed the battery’s current rating and keep the plastic wrap and top insulating ring in perfect condition. Use of any of these batteries is AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Testing batteries at their limits is dangerous and should never, ever, be attempted by anyone who has not thoroughly studied the dangers involved, understands the risks, has the proper equipment, and takes all appropriate safety precautions.

If the battery has only one current rating number, or if it only says "max", then I have to assume the battery is rated at that current level for any type of discharge, including continuous.

    Bottom Line
This is a decent performing 18500 cell. It performed a bit better than the Panasonic NCR18500A which means it would give you a bit more time before you needed to recharge.

The extremely high internal resistance of 18500’s means they will not perform well if used near or above their rating. I recommend staying under 5A/15W for this cell.

I do not know who makes this cell. It is not a rewrap of the Panasonic NCR18500A.

The capacity for the two Vapcells I tested was 2071mAh and 2072mAh at 400mA (0.2C) down to 2.5V. This is fantastic consistency. I am rating these cells at at 2000mAh.

Two cells were purchased for the purposes of testing by me.

    Performance Specs
    • DC Internal Resistance = 67.0mOhms*** (milliohms) average for the two cells.
    • Watt-hours (energy) delivered at 2.5A down to 3.2V = 5.5Wh
    • Watt-hours (energy) delivered at 5A down to 3.2V = 3.9Wh
    • 2-sec puff count at 7.25W = 1366
    • 2-sec puff count at 15W = 468

***I have switched test jigs, resulting in slightly lower IR readings versus my previous setup. Add 1.6mOhms to this IR value in order to compare these cells to others tested previously.

So interested in your research I have burnt my toast :(

Reading your two recent posts on vapcell and Panasonic.
I need to buy some new 18500s. Are there any others I should consider. Or one of those two (vapcell it seems) is fine for me.
My AWs lose charge too quickly and I believe I read that they do not produce anymore?
    Thanks

Correct, AW’s are no longer being made.
The only 18500’s I know about are the ones I just tested and the Vapcell was a bit better.
