Benzoic Acid vs levulinic acid For nic salt

I know that these two acids are mainly used for the binding of nicotine in mix salt liquid to balance out ph so it is less harsh. And from my understanding of benzoic acid, no matter what form it is in it can still recrystallize in your lungs. So I was wondering if levulinic acid is better? And what, if any effects there are when using it in nic salt?
