Berenberg report for stock investors says e-cig regulations protect cigarette markets:
“In summary, our medium-term view is that regulators have reinforced the position of cigarettes for many consumers at the same time that the tobacco majors have developed, or are developing, RRPs that are better substitutes, improving areas such as speed of nicotine delivery alongside taste and other sensorial elements. Although alternatives to combustibles remain a threat to cigarette profits, the pace of change appears manageable. We believe some of the majors’ products are likely to be successful, both with the consumer and – almost as importantly – with the regulators.” (page 7)

When tobacco stock analysts say that e-cig regulations protect cigarette markets, one would think that responsible public health officials, health and medical organizations, the news media and politicians would realize that they've been duped.

Exactly right. There is nothing more objective than a good investor. (not all are good) They don't care what the product is, what it does, or who cares, (although some know all of those things), they only want to know if it will make or lose money.

Absolutely fascinating, and completely supports what CASAA (and those of us here) have been saying all along. KentC is 100% correct, investors only care about whether an investment will make money. This type of analysis is generally not politically biased, simply an analysis of facts, so this is particularly telling IMHO.

But, at least the MSA money will keep rolling in to those state coffers....

EDIT: Also wanted to thank you again, Bill, for keeping us apprised of these articles and letters that you find. It is much appreciated.
