I've read somewhere that one of the protected 18650s will not fit the V2. I assume it is probably the NCR18650A, as they do not fit the P+ ( Super T Manufacturing, Innovative manufacturer of electronic cigarette products. ). Performance-wise, what I have seen on these Panasonics seems to indicate that they perform very well. Keep us updated with which ones you get and how they perform. I've been eyeing these myself!!

Nipples! I get mine from super t manufacturing. Not that you asked, but "Nipples!" wasn't enough for the character limit.
you just wanted to say "Nipples!" twice lol

yeah, these are the "safer chemistry" and not the protected (as far as i know), I will try to remember to update this once I get the batteries, and perhaps the more important part, the Provari (ordering one tomorrow :) )
Wish I knew for sure, but I'm still impatiently waiting for my Provari (status still says "Processing". Ugh! Anyway, I believe from what I have read here and pictures on Provape's sight that it needs the batteries with the nipples.
looks like the general consensus is "Nipples!"

Thanks for the replies

I think I am going to be ordering one tomorrow as well! (the green LEDs are just too cool to say no to). Def be sure to update us. Super-T's testing indicates that these hold the voltage throughout the drain just as well as the AW IMRs, which is impressive. Additionally, they seem like a good match given the Provari has the short circuit and over-discharge protection.

I've been using both the Panasonic high-drain CGR18650CH 2250mAh button top and the AW IMR 18650 2000mAh batteries in my Provari V2. The Panasonics are about 1mm longer (spring holds the battery a little more snugly) and last noticeably longer. I don't believe that a flat top battery will work with the Provari even though I haven't tried, because the positive contact is about even with the edge of the circuit board, maybe even slightly recessed.

The best deal I've seen for the Panasonic high-drain CGR18650CH 2250mAh button tops is here:
New! Panasonic CGR18650CH With Top Button, 2250mAh IMR High Drain 18650 Battery Cell-Made in Japan

$7.99 with free shipping from Florida. Buy 2 -10 and get an additional 5% off.
Its where I bought mine and I got them in less than 3 days.

Another quick battery question. I have 4 18650s that I use in my LTs, will those work in the provari?

As long as they are "High-Drain" or IMR 18650s with a button top they will work.
The Provari has voltage boosting circuitry, so a standard 18650 can not supply enough current.

!!! GET THE 18650 EXTENSION CAP !!! with your Provari order.
You can get excellent 18650 batteries for much less than an 18500 for $11.
Why wouldn't you want to at least have the option.

BTW - Heres a Link for AW IMR 18490/18500 3.7v 1100mAh for $8.48 + $2.09 S+H

any idea the best place to get 18490/18500s? The original idea behind ordering the extension cap was to use my current batteries, if i cant do that, Ill just go with the smaller ones, but $11 a piece from ProVape seems excessive to me.

I use the 18490s because the 18650 is too large, and I dont mind changing the batteries once mid-day. Two batteries make it through the day. Also, I can use the 18490s with the Kick in my 18650 tube mods. Super-T sells them for about $8.50

Of course, the trade off is that the 18490 is 1100mah and the 18650 is either 1600 or 2000 mah, depending on if you buy the old or new version, respectively.

I do appreciate the help and the batteries are definitely cheaper, and if i were only buying batteries, that wouldnt be a problem, however, the ones that come with the provari are $1.95 more (for 2 considering shipping cost) so i think i will just go that route.

as for the 18650s, i may or may not go down that road, depending on how well i do on battery life with the 18500s, i vape at 5v on a 3 ohm carto right now so im in the lower power consumption range, my 18650s in my LT lasts me easily all day and into the next, i guess time will tell :)

i do very much appreciate all the responses, it has been very enlightening.

You'll need a magnet to put on the top to give it a nipple. I'm going through a lavatube to provari upgrade myself and have 4 of the panasonic 18650 flat tops as well. I'm going to order some 1/4" x 1/8" magnets to give them a "nipple"

Panasonic CGR18650CH coming today. Here's hoping they last longer than the AW's that I got with this amazing device.

Design-wise they should be very similar to the AW IMR 18650 2000mah batteries given the parts similarities. You may see a bit more with the extra 250mah, but it may not be substantial. I'm also very interested in the internal resistance of this battery. Please keep us updated on how it powers the unit, especially when vaping at higher wattages. :)
