I've seen both the Panasonic IMR 2250mah battery and the AW IMR 2000mah battery discussed quite a bit over this issue, but I really want to know just what it is that is most commonly used and recommended for these PV's? I really don't want to use these no-name batteries that came with my Varitube X, I don't really trust them.

There's lots of technical info in the panasonic battery thread in this forum, I'd recommend reading it. I can say that I've got a set, and they seem to be working great in my v1.5 lavatube, no issues at all. I also use a xtar WP2 charger as well, gives a choice of 1A or .5A charge, and a 1A charge gets these guys charged quick, it's an intelligent charger, so it won't over charge them, and if they somehow get way undercharged it has a trickle charge step that most other chargers don't have. Highly recommend the xtar, for the money, it's the best bet (unless you want to spend twice as much and get a pila). Haven't used the AW's so can't speak on their behalf, but everything in that thread says while the AW's are good, the Panasonics are better...

The 2 you named are the very best for variable voltage. The AW IMR is/was the prefered, but the newer Panasonics may have an edge. They are both high drain batteries, and either of these two will do you. Make sure if you get Panasonic it is the high drain and not just the standard lithium ion.

If the batteries that came with the device have 6 holes in the "button" most likely they are unlabeled Sanyo ur18650w..I know the ones that came with my kit appear to be and they hold up pretty good..I usually get about 2 days out of them using them mostly around 4-4.4v..but in the 3.7-4.4v range depending on the flavor..after about 3 months these show no sign of wearing down yet too..even using dual coils at higher voltages they should work a good 10 hours.

Mine are blue with a flat-top, the only text is some sort of model number code and a bar code. They last around 9 hours but start volt dropping after about four or five.

It's probably a serial number..I haven't seen the blue ones close up but they very well could still be Sanyo's still. If the button on them looks like the red ones they most likely are Sanyo's..I think the blue ones might be 1800mAh instead of 1600mAh..it sounds to me that you are using yours at really high voltage (well over 5v) with low resistance dual coils? If so the Panasonic 2350mAh (the highest mAh "high drain" you can get really) would probably hold up better...

I'm more common to using Boge 3ohm cartomizers at 5v.

...I just vape like a nuclear power plant.

I need to buy 2 of the Panasonic High Drain IMR 18650's. I was looking at the orbtronic website and noticed that there are 2 types, one has a "button top" (IMR Hybrid 18650) and the other one has a flat top. The one with the button top is shown in a photo next to the regular one. Sorry I can't link from my phone but can someone tell me if it makes a difference?
