i have a few 100% VG blends that sound delicious (velvet cloud vapor), but i haven't been able to really vape them because none of my gear likes it. i heard that the aspire vivi nova bdc worked well with 100% VG, and it's certainly better than other clearomizers i've tried, but i'm getting gurgling, cool hits, spitting, low flavor, and low vapor production. turning up the voltage helps with the vapor production and cool hits but doesn't help the gurgling and low flavor.

i'll eventually try my hand at RBAs but for right now i want a clearomizer. any suggestions? for those of you getting the aspire BDC to work well for your VG blends, what are your tricks?

ETA: also, i've tried searching for this, but the search function seems a bit useless. feel free to point me to threads that answer this question if you know of any.

First, any gear should vape 100% VG but it might involve changing the wick setup to eliminate the gurgling and other problems.

That said, I vape 100% VG and find the pyrex Aro doesn't have a bit of problem with it, in my experice. YMMV. Smoktech ARO Pyrex Glass BCC - Red

I also have a PT2 and it also vapes VG fine, but is more temperamental. Have to have the wick setup just right. :)

EDIT: BTW cotton wicks better than silica, and works much better with 100% VG juices.

Mac will be along any moment now to tell you all about how females have very fine motor control and how, with a little patience and some light reading, you'll be coiling circles around us in no time. And he's probably right! You already mentioned an interest in RBAs so it sounds like you're not completely adverse to tinkering. And cotton is so much better than silica! All you need to get started is some kanthal wire (recommend starting out 30-32 gauge), a 1/16 drill bit or 14 gauge needle and a cotton ball! Well, at least for rebuilding a protank or aro head. Anyway, definitely recommend looking into it at the very least.

As to your original inquiry, I was using 100% VG with my Smok Pyrex Aro and never had a problem with it so you'll likely have good luck following Trayce's suggestion. I haven't run that liquid through any of my Protanks so I can't really comment on how they would fare, but I would feel confident giving it a shot. Come to think of it, I am fairly certain PBusardo ran his Boba's Bounty through the Protank 2 with no issues, but I don't recall for certain so don't quote me on that.

At any rate, good luck with your search.

Fake Edit: Some means of measuring resistance (either an ohmmeter or device capable of reading and displaying coil resistance) is also pretty much necessary to get into rebuilding.

thanks for the info! i've never tried to rebuild my coils. :\ maybe i'll eventually give it a shot.

i have a smoktech aro -- i'll give it a try again too. i actually forgot that i had one lying around.

Just FTR there are two smoktech Aro's.... one is pyrex, one is plastic. I have never used the plastic one so can't say if it performs like the pyrex one. Love the pyrex one though.

And rebuilding is quite easy. In fact if it weren't named by men it wouldn't be called "rebuilding" at all, which sounds quite involved. I always smiled (with affection AND thanks) at the various YouTube vids where these very nice men were "RE-BUILDING" their heads.... which amounts to winding wire around a bit or the like. That's not "building" .... that's tinkering. It's harder to thread a sewing machine. Not that there isn't a learning curve.

Anyway, don't let the language put you off. If women had named it, they would have called it 'giving their heads a makeover.' :D

If you are wedded to the 100% VG thing, you may want to eventually look into bottom feeders w/an atomizer (over the counter atty or RBA).

I have never found happiness w/any clearos or tanks or cartos (except shorty cartos in a bottom feeder) and 3 weeks into vaping i moved to BFs and never regretted it.

VG is going to mute flavors, and then combine that with clearos tneding to mute flavors as well, plus wicking problems with gloppy VG.......many people who vape high VG do move to BFs for a reason. :)

Hey Racehorse! Good to see you. What exactly are you referring to by a bottom feeder? I thought any device with a bottom atty was a bottom feeder... bottom fed clearos included. No? (Like the Aro vs the iClear.)

I have never owned the polycarbonate Aro, but I have several friends who do and I am constantly troubleshooting them for various issues. In my experience they are prone to leaking and mechanical damage, and are generally of poor finish. The Pyrex Aro is a solid tank and carries my recommendation, the polycarbonate Aro does not.

Hi Trayce,

A bottom feeder is a kind of mod/PV. Juice is on board, you squeeze bottle and it shoots up into atty from the bottom.

Look into REOs, Vmods, Bogger Box so you can see the concept. :)

PM me if you have any questions. I have always used high VG and got very tired very quick of gumming up clearo tanks and trying to get it to wick thru punched cartos for carto tanks, and that is why when I started vaping last july I just decided to drip, then found out I don't have to drip cuz a bottom feeder makes that "automated".

I can't stand the muted taste of VG in a clearo anyway.

PM me if you have any questions, you can read about REOs or other bottom feeders so you get the concept down, feel free to PM me if you have questions after doing that. :)

Ohhhh, okay, a bottom fed dripper. I know exactly what you mean and have looked into them myself. The Aurora (Vision Aurora BFT NEW- Bottom Fed Tank Top Atomizer Kit - BLACK [gv-AuroraBFT-BLACK] - $25.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more) is an inexpensive bottom feeder that has gotten rave reviews but I can't speak from personal experience, but if the OP were interested there are YouTube reviews of it.
