Hey guys! Got a question for you guys. I have never been a direct lung hitter ever since using vvs/mech mods/etc. I primarily always used a provari with either a 510 atty, or tank which always allowed me for a long draw with going mouth to lung method.

Though, now I have found a new found love in my mech mod (sentinel m16) with a .45ohm single coil on an IGO-W4. Though, this is a MUCH MUCH more of an open draw and cannot really take a long draw with this setup using the mouth to lung method. If I try a direct lung draw, yes its a much longer draw, but I feel like i'm going to die afterwards lol. Thats just not my thing I quickly realized.

I was being told by many fellow vapors that if I wanted those big giant clouds I needed to go with a dual coil setup. So I made a nice dual coil setup on my Magma rda, and built it to a .5ohm setup. The coils both light up bright in perfect time with each other, but the problem is this. A dual coil setup with dual air holes is now even WAAAY more of an open draw than the single coil/single air hole setup. This basically means an even much shorter draw I am able to take with the mouth to lung method.

This leads me to my question. Being I can only take a short draw, I find myself getting WAY less vapor out of the dual coil than the single coil setup. My analysis on this is that the dual coil setups take longer to heat up, therefore at the time where the most vapor production is created, I already have ran out of breathe. Do you guys concur with this, or do you think regardless I should be getting more vapor on a dual coil? Maybe I built something wrong? I don't think I did, but I am open to suggestions.

Thanks guys!

Makes sense. Dual coils do take longer. What gauge kanthal are you using on your builds? If you move up in gauges to a thinner wire, it'll take a bit less time to heat.

Thanks for the response Tinkie. I am currently using 28guage. And used 8/7 wrap dual 1ohm coils to bring the build down to .5 ohms. Just was very surprised to exhale less than 3/4 of the amount of vapor I was getting from the 4/3 single coil build. Especially with everyone telling me my clouds will be much bigger with a dual build. But after analyzing the situation and the method I use (mouth to lung), it seems maybe the single build may just be the better build for me and my method of vaping.

What build do you get more vapor with, and what inhalation method do you use?

In the case of my clearos, I never really found dual coils to be worth it really. Haven't built any for myself though. I may try it in my Nimbus now that I have a mech mod. 28 gauge is pretty thick. I'd try thinner wire. 30 or 32 gauge. It really does heat up faster, especially the 32 gauge. Also, you'll need less coils. The thinner the wire, the more resistance. Really though, I've been quite happy with 28 gauge, single coils and cotton wicking. The total surface area of a coil made with 28 gauge is more then one made with 32 gauge, and the added surface area provides better taste in my opinion. Haven't experimented with much other then 28 gauge though. I got some 32 with one of my Kayfuns, and from that I know I like 28 gauge better. I also have some ribbon kanthal that I need to try out....

Ok sounds like good advice. Thank you. I have used the thinner 32 on my IGO-4 as a single, and as you said, the 28g was WAY better in my opinion as well. Maybe I will give that a try, but I have a feeling with that dual hole air flow with the dual coils, I run out of breathe on an inhale pretty fast, so im thinking the single is still going to be my higher vapor production vape. When you setup your dual coil on your RDA, drop me some info on your thoughts on it. Because I too seem to like the single very much. Everyone just keeps telling me how much better the dual setup is, but I have a strong feeling most of them do direct lung hits.

I can definitely get some significantly longer draws doing direct lung hits, and probably get some good vapor out of the dual, but its not very enjoyable by any means lol. My lungs feel like their on fire when I do that.
