As other have said, small form-factor batteries just don't last long enough. They suck, and once you get into vaping, you'll want more battery power. However, here's a fairly cheap deal...

Freedom 5 Kit Starter Kit - My Freedom Smokes

It's a 510 battery, charger, atomizer, and 5 carts for $15. Use the "march Madness" coupon code to get $5 off thee $20 price. I bought a few of these, as gifts, for beginners. The battery is OK, an automatic in White. The atomizer is brown, so it looks like a cig. Cheap starter kit, or not a bad deal on a batt with atomizer.

Note that the charger will not work with manual batts, as they won't fit.

maxxfusion looks awesome, out of stock though :/

What does that mean ? new hotness ?

I have a MaxxFusion on order...I've been communicating with their customer service and it seems they don't know when they will be in stock again :( But I really want to try one out so I'm waiting. I have the analog-looking ecig and it works great for me. I just can't find any cartos (I prefer the 2 piece models over the 3 piece ones) that work the way I want. Researching on ECF led me to buy the Bloog MF. Supposedly (because I don't know yet) they have a new technology that separates the atomizer from the stuffing which reduces burning and, according to the wonderful people here at ECF, it vapes awesomely. Those are 2 things I am definitely interested in. Because I currently have a D-2 and I believe the MF is a D-1 I only bought a battery and a box of blank cartos. I'm going to try it with my charger, if it ever gets here, and if it doesn't fit I'm going to buy a $4 adapter as opposed to a $20 charger. So I can't really comment on cost.

Good luck finding what works for you!

Welcome Rewn, you have lots of advice from many, and I think dormouse said it on another thread, "the more real it looks like a cigarette, the less perfomance you will have", or somthing like that. I think any 510 type will get by when you are "out in public" but you will still suffer from perfomance and battery life. The Riva or eGo is not is not that big and is portable enough for "outside" use and decent performance. You can't go wrong with the Provari, Ali'i or Reo and some other mods for the best vape though.

The Provape and provari look great. Gadgets that I could cozy up to. Is anyone dripping with these or the bloog max?

I'm still new at this. It looks like a 510 atty attaches to the provape/provari's. Do I have that right? Does that detract from them? I'd expect an e-cig that approaches the $200 mark to have an atty that would melt an ex-chain-smoker's heart. But it looks like it's all battery.

How does the bloog atty compare to the ego-t? I'm fairly happy with my Ego-T as long as I boil the atty's regularly to keep them clean. I cart and drip with it (mega atty for dripping). I'm ok with the hit I get from the mega-atty. I get no heat from the cart/atty but billowing clouds of vapor surprises me at times. I did just order some LR attys after reading about them here.

Bottom line, I like fussing with dripping at home but, when out, I prefer the convenience of the cart and put up with the softer hit while I daydream about when I get home and get to drip and then blast a good TH.

I love the way you think !! I'd like to know those answers too :)

It is excellent. Get one with an automatic battery. My 501 got my juice too hot too fast (I've heard special cartomizers can fix this), but some people like them more than the 808. I started with an rn4081, which was tiny and very very cigarette looking, but the draw (sucking power) was too much work. I like all three, but the 808 is my favourite little "cigarette" PV.
I have had a good experience with all the vendors so far (except the price of "The Safe Cig") and like to buy PVs (personal vaporizers) from VAPOR KINGS, but any of the ECF trusted vendors are great.

Personally, I think the hang up with size is a mistake. You'll get better performance and more options with an eGo or Riva and you can actually live comfortably without charging all the time. I'm sure the Provape or Provari are excellent. However, I can't see someone putting in the cash to start and they don't even resemble a cigarette. My standard newbie recommendation is the Riva 510 kit on Liberty Flights. You can use LR atomizers etc. Lots of other attachments to play with. Once you settle into a juice and nic level and you still want more then it's time to look at mods.

OK. Yes, it is basically a big battery, but one that will last and can handle low resistance (LR) atomizers.

E-Cig 101, an e-cig basically has three components: 1) battery = power; 2) atomizer = vaporiser; and 3) juice delivery = cartridges, tanks, juice bottles (juice fed mods).

All e-cigs and mods are combinations of these components, and the mods are designed to optimize them, which they do to one extent or the other.

Batteries deliver the power that drives the atomizer. Generally, if you give the same atomizer higher voltage, the vape gets hotter and delivers more throat hit.

Atomizers heat up and turn the juice into vapor. Generally, the lower the resistance (measured on ohms), the hotter the vape.

The battery voltage and the atomizer resistence have to work together to get a good vape. That is why you will see people talking about a 3.7v battery and a 1.8ohm atomizer, or using a high resistence atomizer with a 6v set up. Most people find a battery that gives them the size or longevity that they prefer and an atomizer that works well with that battery.

For those who are still searching, or are using batteries that have a gradual power loss while being used, there are variable voltage mods, which either manually, or automatically adjust the voltage being delivered to the atomizer.

Finally, the juice delivery. I use a REO Mini, which is a "box mod" The pv itself has a bottle of juice contained inside so there is no refilling needed during the day. The provari, and others like it, are used primarily for dripping or use add-ons (like MAP tanks, etc.) to provide the juice to the device.

Hope that helps.

As others have said, the cigarette form-factor thing is overrated. Actually, I now prefer my Ego, as I can be more stealthy with the button. But the link I posted above isn't a bad kit, for $15. It's great to give away, as a cheap starter, to friends/family considering jumping into the pool. A 510 auto battery, 510 atomizer, 5 carts, and a charger - all for $15. Batteries alone cost more than that. I have one, stashed in my travel suitcase, for emergencies. This is the kit...

And here's the link ... Freedom 5 Kit Starter Kit - My Freedom Smokes

Be sure to use "march madness" to get $5 off...

From what I have seen, the more it looks like a real cigarette, the less functional they are.

All a matter of size there is simply not enough room in something that small for a decent battery, amount of juice, room for proper atomizing and air passages and such.

The only real advice I would have would be to get over needing it to look like a ciggerette.
