If you don't solder every working day, only occasionally, I would recommend a cheap chinese constant-temperature soldering iron. Choose power 60 watts - it allows to heat up very quickly. There is a lot of these irons. For example - soldering iron - Free Shipping - DX
Just choose needed voltage and power. 12-15 bucks - and you get almost real soldering station ;)

Mine is this iron: NO-905c 60W Professional Electric Soldering Iron - Free Shipping - DealExtreme It's 220 volts, so, if you live in US, you have to choose another, for 110 volts.
