Hi!

I'm looking for my 1st mech. mod and have the Stingray, Stingray-X, Panzer and Nemesis in mind, all of them from fasttech, the thing is from what I've been reading batches tend to change a little, some of the last Stingrays I've seen have had details like too much dirt on the inside (not a big problem) and bad threads (now that's a problem), and some others, so I wanna ask for your help, if you ordered one of these lately or know someone who did what was the impression with the item received? I don't wanna miss and order a mod which may arrive not meeting the "quality standard" it should, as a 1st mod. it would be a boomer.

All recomendations are welcome if you think I can get another good mod not listed here from fasttech just tell me, if it can be upgraded with magnets that would bee cool but you know more about this so I'm open to every suggestion.

Regards!

I'm planning to get one in the future, have my eyes on the Smoktech BEC Pro but now cause economics and cause I like to order things and make builds the mech mod seems to be the best choice at the moment.

With mechanical mods and rebuildables you have to educate yourself to use them safely. I highly recommend you spend some time with Baditude (one of our resident battery experts) and visit his blogs. You are now 100% in control of your own safety (and others around you). Make sure you purchase an ohm reader and a voltmeter or DMM so you can measure your builds, check for shorts and measure the remaining charge on your batteries.

Baditudes Blogs. The blogs regarding mods and rebuildables are listed below:

BATTERIES

9. Battery Basics for Mods: IMR or Protected ICR?
* Another essential read to understand which batteries are safe to use in mechanical and regulated mods. Includes a frequently updated list of recommended safe-chemistry, high-drain batteries with their specifications.

17. Purple Efest Batteries Not As Advertised
* A cautionary blog that reveals that the purple Efest batteries may not have the specifications advertised. Also includes a commentary on "continuous discharge ratings" vs "pulse discharge ratings" of battery specs.

OHM'S LAW

14. Ohm's Law for Dummies (Vapers)
* My attempt at explaining Ohm's Law in layman terms and how it relates to vaping.

16. Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
* As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

MECHANICAL MODS & REBUILDABLES

7. Information Resources for Your First RBA
* An essential read and reference guide for someone new to rebuilding coils. Includes a multitude of useful links on battery safety, mod safety, coil meters, coil building, and the differences in the three types of RBA's.

15. Inexpensive Mechanical Mod and RDA Setup
* A response to the frequently asked question on how to get into rebuildable atomizers with a mechanical mod inexpensively. Includes a list of commonly used tools and supplies for rebuilding and where to find them.

BATTERIES - WHERE TO BUY

Only buy batteries from a reputable supplier (not ebay or Amazon) as there are many counterfeit batteries being sold. Here are several reputable battery suppliers in the US.

* RTD Vapor
* Illumination Supply
* Lighthound
* Orbtronics

Wow, thanks a lot for your help Susan~S you just saved me some time, seems I will not have to google a lot as I though. The ohm-meter it's already on my shopping list, didn't know a voltmeter was needed too so I'm gonna use a multimeter for that task, well, better start learning the ohms law and check more info. about coils and batteries on Baditudes blog, thanks again for the help.

Yep, be safe, my friend. If you're sufficiently cautious - good batteries, familiarizing yourself with the mod, good builds measured with an ohm-meter/multi meter - then a mech is perfectly reasonable.

I wouldn't recommend one if you'll be building your first coils on a mech. For satisfaction and safety reasons, but you could certainly make it work.

That said, I love my GP paps from FT. It's lovely, and works very well. Under $20 for all 3 tube sizes, not telescoping so there's less to go wrong. You'll find it if you search for "paps" though it's listed as Stainless Steel + Brass Mechanical Mod or something like that.

I'll be cautious don't worry c :, maybe I should order a big and cheap e-juice for those first dissapointing coils I may do it would be a waste using the "good ones" on my first tries now that you mention they could not be that good at the beginning.

Can't go wrong with the Nemesis or the Stingray. I just got my Kepler Stingray X from FT (single tube)......not too shabby.

That's what I though at first and then started reading mixed opinions, maybe I'm just thinking about it too much and my fear clouds my judgement, ironically.

I like the Nemesis Copper and the Stingray X S.S. just have to be sure they are compatible with the fatdaddyvape upgrades once I decide which one to buy, there's just so many models I can't get my head around about what model is from what manufacturer.

I have a polished Nemmy from FT that I got about 8 months ago that works real well for me ( $24.63 Nemesis Style Mechanical Mod - stainless steel / with telescopic 510 contact pin at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping ) I yanked out the spring and put in some FT magnets in to the fire button. It has served me well.

Frankly though, I think you would be better off picking up something like a cheap Vamo (I got one for $24 on sale) and playing with that first. The Vamo also has ohm and batter voltage detection that you can then use to check your coil builds and battery level for a mech. you pick up down the road.

BTW there is a Slowtech thread on here that can help answer you question a little better.
