I have been driving myself mad trying to figure out what type of Mechanical MOD to buy. I want one that I can get nice clouds as well as switch to tank for some nice vaping as well. Do many choices...VAMO 5, Tesla, sigelei, Kamry.......I would like yo stay under $200....Any feedback would be great!

Well, at least 1 of the mods you listed is an actual mech mod.

But if you think a Vamo 5 is a mech mod then you've got a LOT more research to do. (Hint: If it has more than 1 button or electronics of any kind built in, it's not a mech mod.)

Thanks for keeping me in check! I have been vaping for close to 6 months now and have got me aerotank to produce some great value by drilling 1/16" hole over 2 of the 3 stock ones. I have eben rebuilt my atoms with thicker gauge and use cotton wick. But now I am just trying to humbly move up to the drip top with something that holds an 18650 or (2) 18350. So mech mods are bottom firing? And the others are button style?
The Caravela clone looks nice, but as far as attaching a tank or drip, any recommendations in a complete setup? I am trying to get my info before I buy so I get what I want the first time. I have smoked for over 25 years before I started vaping...can't believe how easy it was once I got the right one....with a few tweeks tho....haha

I guess I should ask my question a little better. I am looking to buy a MOD that I can use for regular tank use as well as RDA. I do not mind rebuilding when the time comes. I actually enjoy the build time. My wife tells me already that I am obsessed with it when she sees me rebuild my little atoms already. You know you have a passion for something when your little 6 year old girl brings you 3 white pieces of yarn wrapped by black yarn in the middle and says " daddy, I made you one too"....gotta love it...

Anyway, I just figured the VV/VW would be a suitable fit that I could use with my existing tanks and swap out and put a RDA on as well. Is that something of the norm or is it one or the other?

I found the Cronus Mod, Helios Dripping Atom, battery and charger for around $80. The Caravela is nice looking too......Can you put an Aerotank or ViviNova on these guys if you want to tank vape?

if you want to switch toppers the top of your mod will need air flow channels as opposed to being flat for a flush appearance for dripping atomizers.

I started using machnical mods long before there were RDA's, sub ohm vaping, or all the fancy batteries we have to choose from now. In fact the first commercially available "mod" was a mechanical. I really can't think of a type of topper that I haven't used on a mechnical.

    what batteries do you use/recommend?

That depends on what you intend to do with your mechanical PV.
I do not do sub ohm, so everything that I use is in the 2-3 Amp range. This allows me to consider other factors when choosing batteries.
For example here are 6 PV's all using the same AW IMR 18490 (16 amp) battery.

AND, 5 of the 6 are mechanicals.
