I've been vaping for a few years now and am constantly frustrated by leaky tanks and burnt out wicks every few weeks. To compensate for the leaking I end up over tightening the tanks which mean I have to use pliers to open them, in the process scratching the things.

I own a Kanger AeroTank and I love and hate it, when it works it's great but they taste burnt after a week or so and sometime leaks. I also have a VivaNova which I actually really like, it seems to be a smoother vape.

What would you guys recommend for a smooth/flavourful vaping experience?

Hi and Welcome to both of you :)

For me I never found one that just did not leak. The closest I got for quality, flavor and performance would be the nova or a cartotank. Regardless of the tank you will need a new coil every few weeks (could be a little more or little less depending on your liquid - clear/light is easier on coils they go a little longer, dark and sweet can kill coils in a day) so the changing coils thing every few weeks is a necessity.

Got to say love my pro tank 2 with aero flow valve added much better than just the aerotank that is the original ones waiting to see the new ones come out. But never a leak issue for me and yes coils are coils that's one part your just gonna have find a fit but they do have to be replaced frequently depending. But right now 2 1/2 weeks on same protank2 coil and taste great and vaping my head off 1500 puffs a day

I use the Protank II with airflow controller. Works really well. I tighten mine and they occasionally need a pliers. Not often, about 1 in 10. Anyway, I now keep a pair with my gear. I wrapped the teeth with electrical tape. The rubberized tape grips well.

As to the coils, I just clean mine with the tank pieces. I have been using the same 6 coils and the same 6 tanks for a couple of months.

I like the nova wicks, they seem not to get clogged up so quickly and generally taste better for longer. I was hoping there would be something I could upgrade to without going down the rebuilding route, but it's looking like that's the next step.

This is spot on. Really, no clearo is an upgrade from what you have used in these few years. They are merely different versions of the same exact thing. If you want more you could go cartotank if you havent experimented there, but rebuildable is going to give you better coil life, vapor production and flavor because you build it to how *you* need it to be.

What mod or type of battery do you use? A Kayfun or Taifun will solve all your problems. Maybe a "Spheroid" if you use a medium sized battery.

I would recommend the Nautilus straight off, but you know what? One of the earliest vapers in the UK who is known (pretty much) to everyone in the vaping community bought one and guess what..... dry hits.... time and time again.

Vivi Nova is old tech... maybe try an iClear30S

You can't stick a Taifun GT on an eGo battery really.....

This. I replace the wicks every day and dry burn and soak every other day--three heads in rotation until they crap out.

What I've found is that a good kayfun lite clone (I recommend the Tobeco) is worth the upgrade. Yeah you have to rebuild the coil but it took me about 20 mins to learn and I perfected it on my 3rd try. Once you have the coil, though, you just dry burn it and put new cotton in. I actually spend less time tinkering with my kayfun--and it doesn't leak ever!!

Thanks for all the comments guys. Here's my conclusion on this subject right now:

I like what rebuildable systems have to offer, but I don't have much spare time/space to mess about with coils and wicks. It's a nice idea but not for me.

I think my problem may lie in the fact that I have multiple batteries of different types and it seems like the bigger VV batteries like the E-Fire tend to burn the coils faster. At the moment I seem to be getting better performance from my ego style batteries which seem to give a smoother vaping experience. Anyone else had the same experience?

I think I need to understand the differences in tank resistances and their compatibility with batteries.
