vanilla i think is classified by the region it was grown in. i would like to do a side by side sample but thats probably not going to happen. i wish i could find the flavor i remember as a kid eating soft vanilla ice cream cones. but since my taste buds have changed since then i may never find it. good luck

Yep, Madagascar Bourbon Islands Vanilla and Tahitian Islands Vanilla I think. don't know the Latin genus names, but I think those are the two main regions. the Madagascar is deeper, rich, the Tahitian is more floral smelling, lighter.

Is there a flavoring that's similar to the madagascar-style vanilla? I'm looking for a rich, not sweet vanilla flavor and this sounds like it might be it.

TFA Bourbon Vanilla, or FW Medagascar vanilla. and you can add a VERY small touch of coffee or white chocolate to deepen the vanilla.
