Being a newbie too, I'm curious about this topic.
Isn't is more about the battery than the cart?
For example, with that new Newton from Evolv (which I just got today), everything vapes much better.
That leads me to believe that it's more about the battery providing enough Volt/Watt to the atomizer than anything else.
Even with my old Green Smoke batteries, there are noticeable difference between the two batteries I was using (when used with same pre-filled cart).

Most entry level e-cigs work around a 3.7 volt power supply. Protected eGo / Tornado / Riva batteries have a chip that regulates the 3.7 current down to 3.2 in theory; 3.3 in my experience. Many mods stack two 3.7 volt batteries then regulate that 7.4 voltage down to 5 or 6 volts output, so called HV devices. Then there are a few variable voltage devices which can be purchased or many more to build with MOD instructions found in the dark corners of the ECF.

So... If your using a standard battery which most casual vapers do, It's more about the resistance of the coil calculated in ohms. A cartomizer or atomizer with a lower ohm rating will heat faster and hotter evaporating more juice quicker providing larger plumes of vapor with more Throat Hit transversely higher ohm cartos or atties have more resistance to the flow of current reducing the speed and intensity of temperature at their coil . Either device switched to another 3.7 battery will perform the same way. A slight caveat; If your vaping LR atties or cartos down at 1.5 ohms you should use a battery with a minimum of 450 mAh to avoid damage to the battery.

Not likely that a quality supplier would have two batteries that function differently.
I can't speak to Green Smoke as a company but on the surface they appear to be one of the many disreputable sites buying the cheapest mass produced equipment possible from China and reselling at hyper inflated prices. If you look through the ECF vendors you'll notice they aren't part of this community. It's great that your on to a better device now.

Bringing it back to the OP line of questioning. I can only imagine the lack of consistency with your cartomizer performance is due to the manufacturer, as I've only had one batch of generic cartos that performed... well they all performed consistently crappy. Which company produced the carto's you were using?

Knowing what I know now, I'd stick to the Bogetech's.

cheers
