Habu - to be perfectly honest, the Stealth is more of a collector's item. It's got a few cosmetic features that are different from a black satin, but really, not worth the extra money unless you feel you can't live without it. I have 2, but I'm a collector; I also have a satin black mini.

Despite Vapor Force saying the Stealth has a special triple coating, my Stealths and satin black look the same; plus, if you do a little research, you'll find that regular ProVarii are triple-coated too. (This came from a statement ProVape CS sent in an email to an ECF member)

It has black caps. They look cool, but if you use an extension cap on your ProVari it is a solid color too. And if you use a ring to make a tank flush with the ProVari body, you won't see the top cap anyway.

The button doesn't light up when you fire it. It also doesn't blink when the battery is low. I have to keep remembering to check the battery level, as I have run them until dead more than once.

The LED is 50% darker. Kinda cool.

I'm not trying to dissuade you from getting one if your heart is set on it, I'm just giving you a couple of things to consider before you fork over an extra $55*, plus shipping. (I can't believe Vapor Force charges shipping, but they do).

*I'm using the base price of a satin black, plus LED color upgrade = $194.95

Man, sometimes I really hate being so impulsive. I really admire your knowledge of provari The Ocelot. The Co-owner of Vaporforce, Geoffrey, told me I was getting a totally unique product and I really bought into it. I figured there's no way it's an extra $60 for a tinted screen...

this is what he quoted -
"The standard ProVari models traditionally cost $180, and more for special editions. They are entirely USA made and backed by a one year full warranty. Long story short, they are the best regulated device on the market and it had been that way for 4 years. The differences in the Stealth: Triple-Baked, triple-coated, higher durability, matte black ceramic finish. This is intention for an extreme reduction in heat signature. Each display screen is hands coated to a specific tint that eliminates side glare and reduces light emissions to 12 inches or less. The fire button is custom designed to eliminate light. Heat and light emissions are a huge spec that matters in the military. It takes 4 times longer to produce each Stealth, compared to the standard ProVari models. It also costs much more money to produce."

So those things arent really differences...kinda bummed out but still hoping for the best.

The Stealth looks almost identical to the satin black, but it is most definitely not the same finish. It is much, much tougher. My Stealth is my daily carry mod, partly because of the finish, partly because of the dark lens on the LED.

Also, I'd contact him to be sure, but I do not believe there is a discount, for EMT's anyhow.

I apologize Habu, I stand corrected. The finishes look almost identical to me, but I've never put them through a durability test. I keep all of mine in Serenity Gear sleeves anyway.

Hint.. the key to the hello kitty safe behind the Cat-woman poster should be found under the one and only puppy knick- knak in the entire house.

How have you been? I used to see you around a lot more. You should come and visit us in the Saloon. There's no need to read back to try and catch up, the topic changes from page to page (or from post to post) and no one cares. ;)

I got my Stealth & got rid of my satin black on the same day so I only held them side by side for a minute. Sitting in my car in direct sunlight, there was a very slight difference in the way they looked, but they were incredibly, incredibly close. On a side note, I had to take a color recognition test for a factory I worked in when I was 18 & I was the first person out of hundreds who ever aced the test, so the tiny difference that I noticed between the two might not even be perceptible to everyone.

Now I drive in the dark daily for one of my jobs & my eyes are very photosensitive. The regular blue LED is blinding so I only take my Stealth with me since the smoked out screen is perfect. No sleeves, no wraps, it just goes in the breast pocket of my Carhartt overalls that I wear for work. The bottom edge of the extension cap is worn all the way around, but I think that initial damage was caused by a stand that didn't have a felt-lined cup. For a while I was carrying 2 Provaris, the other didn't have the rounded extension cap, but the sharper edged regular cap. There's a couple spots on the Stealth where you can see little divots in the finish from the other Provari knocking into it, but they don't even go all the way through the finish & you really have to look close to even notice them.

Other than those 2 things it's pristine after 6 months of heavy, heavy use. The satin black that had was showing wear after a week or 2 & had more wear on it than the Stealth does currently, after less than a month when I got rid of it. Not to mention the satin black was my very first one so I was being even more careful with it; the Stealth doesn't get babied at all. For me, it's not a collector, I use it for the lens & the durability (& as much as I'm trying to avoid buying another one, that gunmetal Zencoat is really tempting)

I don't know what finish they put on the Stealth, but it doesn't appear to be the abrasion susceptible Cerakote. I haven't played around with Duracoat yet, but from what I've heard in the firearms industry, that's my guess. I'm planning on Duracoating a couple of my KFL's black when I buy some to refinish one of my handguns so we'll see. It's just not very high on my priority list at the moment.
