Hey. I'm getting my first APV/rba setup. Have been reading all about the subject for a while and have decided on a RBA (well, narrowed down to the original or clone), and almost decided on a APV. One thing I read on the topic of batteries is that counterfeits are a big problem. So I'm wondering if you guys know of good vendors that sell genuine batteries that have a KNOWN supply chain.

Also, does anyone (and by anyone I mean a reputable name brand company) make a HYBRID 18350 battery? as opposed to just an IMR 18350 battery.

Appreciate any feedback, thanks.

No one is making hybrid 18350 batteries. Only AW and Efest are making IMR batteries of that size that I would consider using in a mod. Find these at RTD Vapor.

You can find 18650 Panasonic and Orbtronic hybrid batteries at Orbtronic.

For a list of IMR and hybrid batteries, click the link under my avatar (blog entries) and go to the blog "Battery Basics for Mods".

While I understand your search for "authentic batteries" most of the batteries we use are made in China or similar countries anyways. Websites like FastTech just sell below the MSRP which is why they're cheaper. I'm not saying they are all authentic, but it's pretty fair to assume the majority are. That being said, do whatever gives you peace of mind. :)

The better name-brand batteries (Panasonic, Sanyo, Samsung, Sony) are all Japanese or South Korean companies. None of these companies make 18350 or 18490 size batteries, so the IMR's batteries in that size that are on the market (AW and Efest) originate from China.

Having said that, the counterfeit trade in the battery market is alive and well, especially for the more popular batteries such as AW. Alibaba is a Chinese vendor which claims they are selling AW batteries yet the pictures look nothing like AW's. Our new ECF Forum Administrator, rolygate, is a battery expert and has written the following article about mod batteries and the counterfeit issue in today's market.

Thanks. I will check out orbtronic, and I have already, very briefly, checked out RTDvapor. I've already read your blog Battery basics for mods, as well as deeper understanding pt. 1&2, and resources for your first RBA. First thing I did when I decided to get APV/RBA setup was come on ECF and searched for info on this topic. Originally came across your blog, resources for your first RBA and then found the rest.

Also have read rolygate's rechargeable batteries thread, which I also found a link to in one of your blogs.

Thanks for all the very useful information.

Anyone heard of JetBatteries.com or their affiliate company wholesalebatterysupply.com??? They are based out of Southern California, and claim to sell genuine Sony and Panasonic batteries made in Japan as well as Genuine AW batteries (doesn't say where they're made).

Just wondering if they're legit, honest (really have genuine product) because I can get a great package deal including nitecore i4 V2 charger along with choice of 4 AW, Panasonic, or Sony 18650 batteries for a great price.
