The best 50w mod on the market is the sigelei 50w V2 (not as portable, roughly the size of an MVP) followed by the IPV mini V2 70w (a little more portable than the sigelei). These are larger than the istick because they offer replaceable batteries and, I think it is easy to argue, a way better chip/board (yihi sx330). Basically what you're getting is better performance and build quality along with a better long-term investment. Either will put you in the $60-$80 and are a great value.

You seem to have left out the IMO

In my opinion there are several excellent mods in the 50w range and I much prefer the IPV mini2 70w over the Sigelei 50w. I do own and like several Sigelei mods.:)

No way I would sacrifice battery swap capability for a Disposable device, no matter what improvements they came out with. At least VS offers Battery replacement to their customers...................at a price.

The new IPV Mini 70W is really nice form factor and gives you some range if you ever want to use a different atty. The sig mini 30 has some nice build quality as well and is real small (its newish I got mine a few days ago, I love it) or you could get a VS dna 40 (small and simply amazing,) old IPV Mini 30, Clopour mini or possibly an I Stick but id rather anything before that. Personally IMO the new IPV Mini is the best combination of size and power. You get 70W and a replaceable battery in a really small package mind you a little bigger then the other devices I listed

I'm really considering getting into sub ohming now that it's getting easier 2 do. I'm thinking the I stick 50 W would be perfect. Are there any other good options for around 100

Any of the major brand 30w mini devices would work for you, since the Subtank really doesn't need much more than 25w to shine, even with the RBA. And the iStick 50w would give you a lot of battery life in a fairly compact package with some room to grow, but when it's out of power, you're either going to have to wait about five hours, or vape while attached to a cord.

However, in March or April I think we're going to start seeing mini form factor single and dual 18650 devices with the Chinese knockoffs of the DNA 40 temperature control board really flooding the market. Wouldn't be surprised to see a Sigelei Mini 40w TC, Cloupor Mini 40w TC, all using the existing chassis with the new electronics, and at about the same price point.

That would really give you a lot of options in terms of more power and more flexibility with Kanthal coils (better regulation, better step down, wider operating range than a DNA30-based board). And you could do nickel wire builds on the RBA that comes with your Subtank, or buy the inevitable pre-built nickel coil heads, and never have to worry about a dry hit again, or overcooking your juice, and get more battery life in the process.

So if it were me in your shoes, I wouldn't wait for the next big thing, I'd jump right into the Subtank just to see. But knowing it's just around the corner, I wouldn't spend a lot of money on a mod right now either, even if that meant giving up a feature or two that I could get in a more expensive mod right now. I'd use the savings for my next-gen budget. :)
