Well I have a Vamo right now and I love it but its just too big to bring with me everywhere. I've had a few regular ego's, they never seem to last more than a couple months before they just quit on me. Whats a good small portable choice with variable voltage other than a twist or spinner? I looked at the innokin Itaste (is the fasttech Ego-F8/Iwand the same?) but it seems like some people on here have had durability problems. Are there really any other options out there that are better and wont break the bank?

Your regular egos -- were those name brand Joyetech or generic?
I've had a couple knockoffs and smok brand egos and none have lasted long, but I've been using the same two Joyetech eGo Twists for a year in heavy daily rotation.

But besides the iTaste and the Twist/Spinner, I don't know of any small VV devices.

The Itaste to me still seems too big, lol. but i love stealth. Zmax mini? You can find them for -100 (Smok Zmax Variable Volt Mini Stainless or Gun Metal)

Sigelei Zmax Mini (Zmax Mini)
or the
Sigelei Zmax Telescope (Sigelei Stainless V3 ZMAX Telescope Variable Power (adjustable wattage) VV APV)

Sorry for all of the Zmax's - but I've been doing alot of research on VV/VW mods and these are some of my front runners.
I like the telescope the most, only because i can choose what battery i want to use and not have to buy any extra tubes or caps. and all 3 batteries (18350,18500,and 18650) can be used on my mechanical's as well.

Is the Zmax mini really any smaller than my Vamo in 16350 mode? Honestly thats still too big for me, I really preferred the size of the Ego, I'm just tired of replacing them. The Itaste looked pretty small, almost as small as the Ego.

I've had good luck with Vision Spinners, and the MVP box is solid and reliable. T3 or Evods or Protanks (although a bit top heavy even on a 1300 spinner, but good on the MVP.)

Or go with one of the shorter mechanicals and put a Kick in it...

What decent priced mechanical would you recommend?

The Innokin itaste MVP: solid, VV box mod with 510/ego threading, 2600 mAh built-in recharable battery, fits in the palm of your hand nicely, and slips into a pocket very easily. Can also be used as a passthru while charging.

Solid, a little heavier than a twist, but you could drop it, kick it and sit on it and it would still be going strong.

The itaste MVP is also reasonably priced @ ivape, only $55 with provided coupon code, plus it comes with usb charger/passthru cable and 2 iclear16s! It can also charge your cell phone for you :)

The itaste MVP -- best fit for an active summer!

Siegeli zmax mini or the telescoping v3 . Heard great things about siegeli mech. Mods as well they come in different sizes.

$39.54 iTaste VW V3.0 7-in-1 Variable Voltage Rechargeable 800mAh Electronic Cigarettes Set - vv-3.0 at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
Less "common" than the ubiquitous eGos, more features and generally well received. Lots of reviews out already.

ETA: My preferred on the go setup remains a REO Grande + whatever RBA I have setup. All in one, all day battery.

Thats the one I was looking at, I heard a couple people say they dropped it and it broke fairly easy or the button popped off though. If its not any more durable than the spinner or twist than I might as well just grab a spinner or a twist. Thats my biggest concern.

Sigelei Zmax Mini is just under 4 inches long, pretty much the same thickness as a Vamo, but is very light. The MVP looks like a winner, I believe it is set to get updated to VW/VV fairly soon. Hard to beat the battery life of the MVP, if box mods don't bother you, it is certainly worth looking at.

Honestly I just don't think I could get into box mods.

Can't really speak to the mechanicals, as I don't have one. Like VV/VW too much. Maybe look into a Bolt, or a Sidewinder?

I do use a lanyard on my Spinners. In addition to reducing the likelihood of dropping it, it also protects the button - and makes it easier to find!

Whatever I get needs to be pocket friendly, I absolutely hate lanyards and things around my neck in general.
