The Dark Horse is my personal standard by which all other RDAs are judged. It combines an envious mix of high quality, durability, innovation and feature set. Can it leak? Yes. But so does every other RDA I have ever owned. And while The Dark Horse has been surpassed in many facets by more recent RDAs, it is still a solid choice which continues to earn high marks here at ECF and elsewhere.

Alliance v2. Clouds clouds clouds. And pretty good flavor. It's forty bucks and can be a 4 or 3 post dripper. Like 3 mm post holes maybe a little bit larger. Highly adjustable to your liking. A little big though.

Ud imp. 20ish bucks. 2.5 mm post holes. Three post design. Non adjustable afc but a good airflow probably resembles the max airflow to the subtank. Good clouds and good flavor. Solid solid construction. Dropped it a billion time and nothing barely a scratch. Shallow juice well but adequate. Giant rifled chuff cap. My first dripper and I will never get rid of it. Great for hot build as the thick steel absorbs the heat.

Vector. $65ish. Fantastic flavor chasing atty that happens to be pretty darn good at clouds. I easily fog out my office which is a 10'x6' room in a few hits. Silky smooth machining. Nice construction.

I put those in order from clouds to flavor with the ud imp being a mix. I own others but these are easy to build on while having something besides a velocity, which everyone has (I like to be different). I listed these as they are different price ranges and different kinds of vapes. For 20 bucks it's hard to beat the imp if your not considering clones. For 40 the alliance v2 is awesome if not just for the fact that they include spares for everything plus some cotton bacon and some 24g n90. You literally have everything you need to build and get going excluding juice and it's versatility. The vector for 65 is a great deal too as it puts to shame alot of atties that are twice the price. And I mean the flavor is awesome. And the clouds are nice and dense if your build is right.

I'm sitting here looking at the RDA's I currently have running on mods. A Magma, an Origen, a Twisted Messes, a heavily modified/experimental Igo-W, a Velocity mini, a Derringer, a Geyser, a Mutation X v4, a Nectar Nano, and a Kennedy Comp. All great RDAs when coiled, wicked, and dripped properly.

Based on your desires, my recommendation would be the Twisted Messes as a first RDA. Easy to build, only leaks if you really, really over drip, great flavor, crazy air flow (if you want it), and bloody insane clouds. Only one detractor, and it's easily remedied; don't use the outer colored ring and save headaches from cleaning up vapor condensate.

If you love it (and I'm confident you will), you can begin to tailor your RDA acquisitions to zero in on what you really want in a dripper. But the best starting point for you is, I believe, the TM.

You and I have followed similar paths to dripping. I too started with the subtank rta.
My first RDA was the Velocity clone. It is super easy to build on. I taped off the indirect air holes as they leak a lot and I never really use them.
My second was the Wotofo Sapor or is pretty decent. Easy to build on and does not leak a drop unless you invert it.
My third and favorite is the Infinite Tobh clone. Easy to build on, best flavor of the three, dense clouds.
Additionally, the UD Goblin mini works pretty well once you figure it out. Performs like an RDA.
I have played around with a lot of coil builds but the one that I seem to like the most is a simple 28ga kanthal contact coil, 6 wraps on a 2.4 mm screwdriver. They come out to around .65 ohms. I get decent flavor and vapor production and a single 18650 lasts pretty much all day.
I recently got into tube mech mods because I have grown tired of replacing failing $80 regulated mods every 3 months. I am really liking them.
