Well I have quite a few friends that have quit smoking and begun vaping so I thought it might be a good idea for me to start too. That being said, I'm not all too interested in a beginners rig as I just want to buy one rig and get it done. I'm looking for something that will give me large clouds, and have a decent battery life, as well as a fairly good value. Does anyone have any good suggestions as to where I should look or what specific models I should look at?

I would recommend a decent mech mod something like a Nemesis. and then grab an aspire BDC to start and you can grab different attys later on as you grow. If you want to get a nice setup to start a nemesis/ kayfun is my daily vape.

I got $20 that says you're gonna try to sell OP one of your custom Mech Mods.

I have a Kanger Pro Tank 3 on an Ego-c twist 1000Mah battery, together probably about $40, and really does the job. But you really should have 2 batteries, because if you use it a lot you will still not get day out of it.

How much are you looking to spend?

From what I can tell...finding what's perfect for you in trying to quit is going to take a little trial and error and experimenting. There are a lot of variables involved as I am coming to learn. I have started with Kanger Evod Starter Kit (For $50 you get two batteries, two Attys, 5 coils and a great ac/usb charger.) I like it A LOT, but I've learned that I should have some glass atomizers...so I've purchased 2 Protank Minis. I've also purchased an evod VV as well so I can find my perfect combination of all of the above!

I guess I am just saying that I don't think there's one perfect solution for everyone out there. I think it's about finding the perfect combination for YOU...and that take a little experimenting.

I wouldn't recommend a mechanical until you've done your research on the safeties of mechanical mods. If you do go that route make sure to get a kick or a short stop to prevent hard or dead shorts for your Lithium Ion batteries. I would recommend starting with a vv or vv/vw device such as the Itaste vv, vamo, Itaste SVD, or MVP 2.

I understand that they can cost up to around $150 or so, but I'm not sure if I'm right as I'm not very well read on all of this. I would prefer to spend $100 or less, but if i need to spend more to get what I want then that works too. Also, can a lot of this stuff be bought at vapor smoke shops or will I be doing most of the shopping online?

For hardware online is probably gonna be a lot cheaper, less overhead for the retailer, that goes for anything, not just e-cigs. But if you have vapor shops around you it couldn't hurt to go look around and see what they have to offer. Plus you may be able to sample their e-juice.

understanding the safety of a mech mod takes very little and almost of us end up with mechs so thats why i recommended that.

NO ONE should start out with an unregulated mechanical mod

And for many smokers used to a 8.5-9.5mm diameter cigarette, it's tough to get used to a 14mm Ego, let alone a 23mm mech

Would be great if you just buy one rig TYPE and get it done. - as long as you get a few more of the same type for BACKUP.

Some somebody just starting out I'd usually recommend mini protank 2's and EVODs - they use the same atomizer heads plus there are other manufacturers tanks using that same head.

For a battery tube, a provari seems to be the same bet; expensive, but good reputation.

I don't have a battery tube myself; i mostly use vv-usb-mini-passthroughs, or eGo-type batteries if I'm mobile.

THIS.

These batteries are nothing to play around with.

not to get into an argument but "battery safety" is important but until you get into building and doing the sub ohm stuff screwing a 1.5-2.2 ohm aspire onto a mech is as safe as a maglite. if you accidentally fire it continuously the coil will burn itself and break the connection before the cheapest battery goes bad. And furthmore the OP did not sound like a ....., he is here asking for advice and has enough intellect to figure out that spending money on a "beginner rig" is not something he wanted to do so he smart enough to save the 40 bucks everyone else spends and go straight to something that he will use for more than a week. So a mech and a nice clearo like the aspire BDC would be just fine for a beginner. I mean come on guys its not rocket science its a battery tube....

So much fail....

It's like recommending a new driver get a Viper with no traction control, ABS, or airbags

but its not the Clearomizer is the traction control per se, please explain to me the worst case scenario with a iclear 30 or viva nova on top of a mech....how can that go bad?

Stick the battery in upside down

Have a hard-short from a coil breaking

Battery charging gone bad

Liquid getting down 510 connection and shorting

Accidentally firing in pocket/purse or with bottom-button, just from setting it down

The list goes on...

The title of his post is "Best rig for an INEXPERIENCED vapor. That leads me to believe that he is just now starting to research. He can choose to go whatever route that he chooses but I think that it's also responsible of us to let him know the safeties as well. Like I said a mech isn't a bad thing. I just don't know if it's appropriate for an inexperienced beginner. Going to an ecig like the Nemesis with a bottom button may seem weird for a noob along with safety issues which may lead him to give up on ecigs altogether.
