Another vote for the Lemo, this was my first RTA and I haven't found a reason to get anything else, I actually just got my second one in a few days ago. Since the build deck is nice and big and you have the center holes in the posts it's perfect for a beginner. The airflow on it is huge, which is a big plus for me since I'm a lung hitter, but it can be adjusted to be pretty tight as well. Also, the Lemo is damn near leak proof, this is the only device I've ever owned that has had close to no leaking problems (the few times did leak it was so minimal it's not even worth mentioning). Some of the other devices mentioned are made for a dual coil build, which is going to be a lot harder if you are just starting out, I would go for single coil build since you're staring out.

When I got my first Lemo I was new to building and besides the normal trail and error that came with being a beginner I have had literally zero issues with my lemo, I had more issues when I was using clearomizers. I basically got the best wicking, flavor, air flow, vapor production, and throat hit I've ever had right off the bat, I think that says it all right there. It's leak proof, easy to build, has great airflow, great flavor and is reasonably priced. That covers all the bases for me.

One other comment: I'm sure this first RTA isn't going to be your last, you can always try different RTAs down the road. I think for your first RTA your best bet is to get something that is easy to build and has the least amount of potential problems, and the Lemo fits that bill perfectly. Even if the Lemo doesn't turn out to be your favorite, I think of all the RTAs mentioned at the very least this will give you the best idea of what you want or don't want in a RTA because it has the build deck of a kayfun/russian and the bigger airflow like some of the others mentioned.
Another plus: unless you are willing to spend $100+ on an authentic kayfun, russian, or squape, the lemo would be the only authentic device on the list.

I ended up going with an authentic Sqape R and finally got an authentic W deck for it. I'm really loving it, great vapor, excellent flavor, and its super easy to build. I'm running a 2mm 1.4 ohm coil with Japanese cotton on the W deck, its working great.

Everyone seems to love the Lemo, I almost bought one when I started looking at RBAs. I think I'll try to pick one up after Christmas, I'd like to learn how to build something besides the Squape.

has any one tried the Goblin by Youde?

I've been vaping on one since Saturday. About the only negative I can give it is the capacity. It has airflow for days and the external airflow adjustment is nice. It wicks well and is easy to build on even for a small deck as long as you pay attention. The build quality seems pretty average. Good atty, IMO.
