Best Starter Kit?

Hey guys, I'm as new to this as you can get.

I am trying to find a replacement for actual cigarettes and thought E-Cigs may work well. However, I'm lost among the many brands, types, and kits available. So far all I see for top notch is V2 and Halo G6 with people recommended a manual battery over automatic.

Thing is, I've seen other E-Cigs that don't look like metal cigarettes, but almost like a skinny dremels, lol. I was wondering if the Halo G6 was the best or is there something else your guy's experience could recommend.

I've only tried Blu E-Cigs and they were ok, but the hit of it was really weak from what I'm use to. (Camel Wides, Camel Menthol Crush, Newports).

Thanks guys :)

Hello,

Not sure if there's so much of a "best" but more comes down to your needs and personal preferences. Do as much reading as possible and keep asking questions :)

I myself started with Blu (I think the one i used was 100% VG based so had little to no throat hit). Saying that i moved to a eGo twist kit with an upgraded battery and started experimenting with juices that had more PG...I got too much throat hit lol. So now I've found my preferential PG/VG ratio, flavours and still enjoy trying new juices and might start DIY'ing very soon.

I just recently ordered a MVP2 to try something different as I liked what I read and well...the price. Keep reading, asking questions and expanding your knowledge.

Wow, that was quick. Budget is up to 80$ or so.

Thanks for the info guys, seems this MVP2.0 is really renowned on this forum. I looked at it and thought it was just a battery charger when I read the info. I don't care what the vape looks like, as long as it portable and delivers a hit.

As for the PG/VG thing... looks like I'm going to have to do a bit of reading to find out what exactly that is.

Can I be honest?

V2 and others like them are next to useless.

Poor battery life. Poor Vapour production. Dreadful cartomizer life. EXCESSIVE running costs... and I mean EXCESSIVE.

Blu, G6, all of them are dreadful.

I tried most of these to quit my 15 a day habit. $800 down the drain to discover that actually they are a bogus product offering bogus promises.
Old tech, HUGE prices, not much more than a trap to catch the unwary.

I don't dislike Halo, but if you must go with the "Toyota/Nissan of e-cigs at BMW/Audi prices" get the refillable TRITON system.

No disrespect to Toyota... I have 2. :)

Most of the reviews on the internet are little more than 1) lies or 2) enthusiastic newbies who think they have found the answer or 3) reviews placed by the manufacturers themselves.

I never really understood the whole "it's OK to start out with" thing.
If your goal is to quit smoking cigs then starting out is the hardest and most important part. I have been off and on e-cigs trying to quit smoking since 2009. I always went for the best price/performance (read almost cheapest) option available at the time based on what I read online (here mostly). Thing is I could never seem to get the things to work good enough to replace the old tar stix.
This time around I think I might have it though. I decided to quit trying to find the "affordable" option (cigs ARE NOT affordable either). I wanted to quit once and for all and will be saving big $$ in the end.
I went with a Nautilus Mini on an MVP 2 for my main setup as well as some other cheaper tanks as flavor changers / backups. Mostly SMOK GBCs (awesome for the price) and a Mini ProTank 3 (is ok). I have some old vision spinner bats from my last go round with this to help backup my Nauti-MVP rig.
What I have found is that even though I have several other flavors that I like very much loaded up in the other tanks I will sit and vape my Nauti Mini on the MVP until its empty and THEN change up to another flavor. Some of the other tanks are starting to get kinda gunky looking from setting idle so long.

SO...

My advice is jump in and grab a good quality tank like the Nautilus Mini and put it on a good battery setup like the MVP 2. Kits? we don't need no stinking kits! Ditch the rest stay with best.

My next adventure is going to be a Bottom Feed DNA 30 DIY mod with a rebuild-able atty. But that's another story. ;-)

Good Luck!

This is some experienced, sound advice. :thumb:

The halo is supposed to be pretty good, but the interface is different from what is widely used.

As mentioned above a great start for the power part is the MVP2; best bang for the buck in batteries.
For the topper I recommend the miniprotank2v2; or there is the newer miniaerotank which comes with an airflow control base.

As far as tanks go, I love my Protank 2. Some people hate them, some love them. They give me a great vape. Also, if you think you might want to rebuild coils eventually, you can save the ones you use and rebuild them later. I started with Aspire BDC clearomizers. I am a penny pincher and I hate that I had to throw those coils away after they burnt out.

I do have a MVP2 and it's awesome. When I leave the house though, I prefer an eGo twist type battery with an EVOD clearomizer. (just for the smaller size)

Welcome.

I started with an Kangertech EVOD starter kit, and would definitely recommend it. It comes with 2 batteries (good to have a spare) two EVOD tanks, 5 spare coils and a charger. I'm not sure how much it is in the US but cost me £25 here in the UK which I think is a very reasonable price. It gives a great vape and I've been cigarette free for 5 days with absolutely no desire to go back. If you want to spend more you can certainly get better, but if you want a low cost starter kit it is definitely a great kit.

Just DON'T GIVE UP if you try something and can't kick the cigs. One thing about this game is that what works for one person does not always for the next one. Also the technology is getting better every day. If what you buy doesn't work for you keep looking. You can always sell the things that you didn't like and get something that might be better.

Lots of folks have got off the ciggies and stayed off using the Kanger EVOD kits. With one battery in use and one on charge, they're pocketable, convenient, effective, about as stealthy as you can get, and it's not too painful if you lose one. Keep the clearomisers in good condition and there's no better way to find out if vaping is for you.
