You guys are awesome. I had no idea what to get before but now I'm happy to think that I've made the right choice.

I've just ordered the joyetech eRoll Kit, complete with 11mg of tobacco, RY4 and Amercian Red tobacco. It costs £58.96 but that's only because it's an additional £4 for next day delivery. I'm impatient like that, you see.

I hope other newbies looking for their first kit will find this thread useful.

Since you'll probably be trying a bunch of juices to see what you like, I'd recommend more than one clearomizer. (Also you'll want some backups since they don't last forever.)

I'm not familiar with the Kanger so I can't really say much about it. I personally like the looks of these Vision eGo Clearomizer - V3 (Long Wicks, aka CE4 or Stardust) - MyFreedomSmokes.com. (I've also seen these cheaper elsewhere.)

Or, for a little bit more, you can get the CE5 which has a rebuildable wick/head. (In other words, instead of replacing the entire clearomizer when the head starts wearing out, you simply replace the head itself.)

On your next order, or on this one if it's not too late to change, you should pick up a spare atomizer cone like these (sorry, not a UK site).

Electric Cigarettes | E Cigarettes Canada | Buy Electronic Cigarettes

The kit I have seen comes with two batteries and spare atomizers and cartridges. That's almost enough to give you a second e-cig but you'll want one of these.

Get the halo g6 you will not regret it. I personally own both green smoke and v2 and they are both very inconsistent in vapor production and have horrible throat hit. Also they're carts burn when they get low leaving you with a horrible taste in you throat/mouth. The galore g6 is the way to go and I would recommend getting their Tribeca carts at 18mg.you will be more than satisfied (I am vaping mine now:vapor:)

You can also get the white alot batteries (short) the and get the tan blanks and fill it with juice from them. That's what I did and it looks like a real cig. I literally smoke it next to my friends and they don't know it's not a real cig until I hand it to them cause they want a drag lol.

I think you will be very pleased with your eRoll. However, if you have any questions just ask in ECF's eRoll sub-forum.

Good job smitty and we're all pulling for ya  I kinda had the eRoll in mind for you also and I believe you made the right choice. As I've said if you need to carry spare cartridges use a Tic Tacs container.
The atomizers (metal container with element) that vaporizes the juice that drips from the cartridge will occasionally need cleaning as the juice tends to gunk up the coil/ element and makes for a harsh/ burnt tasting vape. A friend who only uses atomizers swears by this method. He uses Smokers Denture Cleaner.

I am sure the other newbies will get something out of it. Nice thread. I might add that I think you will enjoy your new e roll, but don't rule out the bigger devices for home use. they give a really nice vape. I started with the cigalike and quickly moved on to the ego twist. Oh, and good for you to get away from those stinky analogs.

Good advice here. I too would recommend going for the eGo setup, even as a n00b. You can keep things dialed down when starting out and then move up from there easily.

I started out a couple of months ago with the small Halo G6/SI Volt setup, got the bigger battery, tried different cartos and mini-clearos, got the Triton/X2 battery with bigger clearos, but just couldn't get what I wanted out of it... being stuck with 808-threaded gear left me with few options.

I put it all down a week ago and bought a couple of Vision Spinner batteries (650mAh & 1300mAh) along with a few Innokin iClear 16 clearos. This setup kills my old one... the hit and vapor are superior to what I had and now I can use just about any delivery device I may want to try. I am getting what I want out of vaping now. I wish I had just done this from the beginning... I would be at least $125 ahead.

I've been reading up on e-cigs for the past few hours but am still a bit confused.

Some key information first:

1. I smoke Marlboro Lights

2. I usually smoke 5-10 a day

3. Ideally, I would like the e-cig to look like a real cigarette

4. I would prefer it if the kit wasn't shipped from the USA (I live in the UK)

- Which starter kit would you recommend?

- What strength do I need?

I've read a bit about V2 cigs, SmokeStik, Apollo, Halo G6, Green Smoke, eGo and a few others I can't remember the name of.

I was close to purchasing the Halo G6 but found out that no one in the UK stocks it and thought that it was better to ask you guys first.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Sorry to go a bit off topic, but when I signed up (I've signed up on a lot of varied websites) I didn't even think to try 'Smithy' as a nickname... I feel stupid for missing my chance to be the original Smithy now :(

---- back on topic

I'm from UK as well and VapeEscape and Liberty-flights (the UK site) are my go-to websites for vaping.

Just buy a starter kit for around £50 (something with the Ego name tends to go down well) and get some juices at around 8mg to 14mg and see where you land.

Vaping is a little different to smoking and I was a dual vaper/smoker for 6 months before I got a Clearomizer (I was using Cartomizers at the time) and it blew me away, I haven't smoked since :)

Ego Twist 650 (or smaller)- $20 or less
Kanger Evod for your Clearomizer -$5-6 each
Charger- $4
Juice- $4-10

Altogether, you should never have to spend more than $30-40 the first time if you're not buying a lot of juice. . It's almost always cheaper to ignore the "starter packs" and just buy everything seperately (the only exception being if you add a charger with your battery option) They will always try and upsell the starter packs to you but they are overpriced and really kind of unnecessary if you know what to get.

I bought a cigarette looking ecig at first five years ago, but I'm sorry to say, in my experience I was so frustrated with it's lacking delivery of nicotine. You can't continuously puff on it, and it's ridiculously expensive replacing cartridges that inevitably burn out, so I started smoking again almost immediately.. That was until I met a friend who had an Ego Twist. I've been using the Ego Twist batteries since I quit 10 months ago after smoking heavily for almost 15 years, and I LOVE the change. Looking back, for me the Cigarette diameter sized ones would just have never delivered enough nicotine or quickly enough for me to quit. It seems like you'd need 18mg-24mg, if you start with 18mg, and you feel like you're withdrawing at all don't be ashamed to move it up to 24mg. The charge on an Ego lasts for at least a day with the 650Mah, about 2-3 days with the 1110Mah depending on your usage instead of a few hours. The 1100 is really pretty long and was too conspicuous for me, but it lasts forever. Since the 650 lasts a whole day, and the 400Mah being slightly shorter, I'd say go with one of those.

The clearomizer/cartomizer that you use is important; unlike the smaller cig sized cartridges, these last for quite a long time. I started with the Vision ce4 Rebuildable clearomizer, if you don't mind the upkeep and that they hold a little less Juice they are good, they are also streamlined and pretty inconspicuous.. that said, I recently switched to the Kanger Evod, and I am totally converted. (The Kanger T3 is larger to hold more liquid and therefore will be too big diameter-wise, if you're looking for a streamlined look). I think they would be better than the Ce4 Clearos for a new user, I kind of wish I had started with them! They never leak as the Vision Clearomizer can when upside down, and because it holds slightly more juice you won't have to fill it so much. They also seem to give a lot more vapor and they are very easy to maintain, since they have a bottom coil instead of a top coil you don't have to dry burn and clean them like with the Visions.

To order my battery, if it's a 650 I go to http://Sweet-Vapes.com(they have great Customer Service, Warranties and are a Genuine Brand Reseller. They also have the best tasting flavors just in my opinion.) If S-V's juices are a little pricey - VapeDudes.com - is Kosher and also good with lots of variety). Both sites have a few Tobacco flavors and a variety of others, all of which that I've tried (especially S-v) tasted on the mark. Though I've only tried a few, the flavors were good here; http://VaperSociety.com has 40% off your first purchase. Vape Dudes has a one time 40% off, but it's a limited lottery that resets at 8am and can be hard to get. Beware sites that seem too low-priced and don't state exactly what they put in their juice, it should only be the very basic ingredients; VG/PG, Natural flavoring, and Nicotine.

If you want the bigger 1200Mah Ego Twist, this is the only site that has them for only $20 instead of $27- http://FreE-Cigs.com However, this site has OFF BRAND on their other tech, so I stay away from items except the Battery as Generic brand Cartos seriously break easily and/or quickly. They have good customer service as well as a 30 day Warranty on the Batteries.

It is always good to have an extra battery, even the $10 Smaller Egos (the smaller ones don't come as a Twist) last between 12-48 hours, make a great backup and they are only about 3 inches long!. (including the Battery and the Top holding your juice it's about 5 or 6 inches long). For your Kanger or whichever Clearo/Carto you decide to use, It's good to have two, I keep one flavor in each. Good luck, hope that helps!
