In your opinion what would the best sub ohm set up be, mod and tank?

I'm not really into rebuilding or crazy DIY mods. I travel for work a lot so I can't afford the time to fool with builds and coils. I would like to buy something turn key and low maintinace.

I've gotten really positive feedback from here and other sources about the eleaf 50w and kanger subtank mini. That seems to be the setup for my needs, but before I pull the trigger I wanted to make sure I am buying a good setup that will last. Also both seem to be out of stock everywhere.

Price really isn't an factor, to a certain extent at least. But is there a better "low maintenance" set up even if it is costly? Thanks for your input!

I like your choice. I have the istick 30 and it is a champ. I think I would have preferred the subtank mini to the mini nautilus that I own. Kanger replacement coils are organic cotton while aspire coils have a mix of cotton and ceramic wicks out on the market. As a result I have had inconsistent BVC coils for my nautilus mini. If I had it to do over again I would have purchased the subtank mini for more consistent replacement coils and the ability to switch to a rebuildable deck in the same tank.

Also, I prefer the airflow of the subtank mini to the nautilus mini. But there might be better options that I do not know about. I am still new to all of this.

Thanks for the input. I currently have two nautilus minis. I would like to get away from the ceramic material. Being an engineer it just concerns me slightly. I guess that's why the subtank stood out to me. I just don't know enough about what's on the market to see if there is something better that may not be as mainstream.

I'm glad someone mentioned provari. I don't know much about them, but I have found quite a few complaints about some of them not functioning properly. I really didn't look into them after that. Is this still an issue? What model would be the best quality? Sigelei was on my list as well but the eleaf seems to have had a better response.

from what I have observed from the vapers in the community. Sigeli seems to be more of the luxury model that the veterans prefer. Isticks tend to be the newer people? So if price is no concern then the SIgeli 100 or 150 might be overkill but you probably would never have to upgrade. I do not think you can say that about the istick 50w even if it is solid.

i have an aspire atlantis and a subtank nano and the atlantis can handle more wattage than the subtank mostly due to the wicking i believe. They are both great tanks but i think the atlantis can handle a little more power and get a little larger clouds. Also i think the wicks used produce slightly different flavor, slightly clearer i guess with the subtank especially at lower wattage. As for the battery i have an istick 30w and it is absolutely great for size, battery life, and compatibility with many atomizers so I'm sure the 50w will be even better.

Freemax Starre is said to have the best airflow and flavour with the worlds first Dual Vertical Coils. The DVC coils come in 0.25 and 0.5. They are massive, and wicked with Japanese cotton! Freemax did a prerelease to a few vendors and reviewers before the CNY. And have just announced the official release upon their recent return after the lengthy spring celebrations. This is not only a contender, some say it is better performing then the recently claimed "best" RTA's!

Cheers, and vape on!

Just my 2 cents here as I was recently in the same place as the OP. After my research and polling at my local B&Ms, I decided on the Sub tank mini paired with a MVP 30W.

For me I liked the cotton coils on the subtank & the fact that I can build on it if I want. For the MVP, I like a cooler vape and i do not see myself pushing more than 20w and I just plain like the look of the MVP 30w over the iStick 30w or 50w devices. With my big hands it fit better too.

My first 'decent' tank was a Nautilus Mini like the OP. I have recently bought an Ego One 2200mAh/2.5ml tank, iStick 30W and Subtank Mini and then I went out and bought the iStick 50W with an Ego Delta II. I am running 0.5 Ohm coils in all 3 tanks with 6mg juice 70VG.

Personally I find both the Ego atomisers give a better flavour at slightly higher wattages than the Subtank Mini. I run the Subtank at around 23W, the Delta II around 33W and the Ego One fully charged is 35W but I prefer it at about 30W.

What I have found with all 3 attys is that after 3 pulls they all start getting a little burnt tasting, so I rotate them. Why this was happening became apparent to me when I was researching the new DNA 40 chip from Evolve, which has temperature control. Basically vaping at higher wattages and repeated lung hits will heat up sub-ohm coils to the point the organic cotton coils start charring. Essentially there is not much that can be done about this without temperature control. The other side benefit of temp control is that your juice will last longer. So maybe that is the direction you should consider.

If the current sub-ohm generation is your preferred direction, then i recommend swapping between 2 devices to avoid dry hits.

The Provari only fires down to 0.7Ohm up to a max of 20Watts, so it's probably not your first choice for subohming. Other than that, it is probably the most durable device you can buy. I cant think of any other regulated mod that comes close to their quality standard.

I own a Provari 2.5 mini and it is outstanding. Been putting it through it's paces for a year and it still looks pretty much how it came out of the box. Sadly, it doesnt quite keep up with my vaping needs anymore.
I wish they would produce a 40-50W box or ZNA style device with 18650s. I'd buy it in an instant, regardless of price.
