I'll preface this by saying I'm not actually looking for an ecig for me, its actually for my husband. He asked me to research and find the best one for him. My question is simple but complicated as taste is a very subjective thing. Which cartridge/liquid tastes the most like plain tobacco? He used to roll his own cigarettes and now smokes american spirits so he's used to a plain tobacco taste with no additives. He has tried the two varieties of ecigs they carry at our local 7-11(I believe they are e-hookah brand) and said they both tasted "fruity". Is this going to be an issue with any brand of ecig because of the glycol? I've been researching for a while now and I'm totally lost and overwhelmed because there are so many brands out there. I figured people here would be able to tell me which ecig tastes to most like a "real" cigarette so I can at least get him started and off the cancer sticks. Especially since our town just enacted a smoking ban downtown and I'd rather not have to start paying his tickets for that! Thanks for any help.

The Turkish Blend from Nhaler is a great tobacco flavor, along with his Drewbacco #1. Also, the TAB from Dekang is a good tobacco flavor. There are several US suppliers that carry it, not sure who exactly since I get mine from Heaven Gifts in China.

You might want to go with Vapor4Life and the two piece cartomiser model they have. They have a tobacco sampler pack also. I just ordered a pack for a friend.

I ordered 7 different types from Drew at Nhaler in small 6 ml samples for another vaper in my house. Tobacco is not really my thing but my favorites were his 555, and RY4 flavors.

Tobacco flavors like most probably vary from vendor to vendor. Unless they are simply reselling premix like Dekang stuff. I suggest you seek out places that have small sample sizes and grab as many as you can from several vendors and see what works for him.

Off topic but his blueberry and mint black tea are great. :D

I'm with Jules on the Nhaler suggestions. Also Nhaler's Kent has been noted by many as the eliquid that most tastes like a cigarette and I'd agree.

You might try a bunch of samplers there - that's the best way to test ejuices anyway:

HIGH VOLTAGE SAMPLERS 12Mg 6ml Plastic Dropper Bottles

From the dropdown, try 555, Drewbacco 2, Kent, and Nuport (if he likes menthol at all)

Also here:
Nhaler 10Mg Strength Octane HV Samplers 6Ml

Try the Plain and Signature tobacco flavors and perhaps the cigar flavor.

For higher nicotine content:
6ML Nhale/Xhale Liquid Samplers - 24MG - NHaler

Drewbacco 2 and 'Camule' .

Yep! I smoked 1 1/2 packs for 43 years and no e-liquid i've found taste like anything i've ever smoked, It's almost like changing brands of ciggys a totaly different taste. It takes about a week to get use to it, but then your good to go!!! I just went with a Havanna cigar liquid @ 24mg a very heavy shag flavor with a taste of hazzelnut. Now this taste better to me than any cigarette ever has. Use a 510 E-cig and your hubby will be on the right road!!! Good luck

Thanks guys(or girls)! Where is the best place to buy a joye 510? Are the cartridges easy to refill? Also, he currently smokes 1/2 to a whole pack per day depending how stressful his day is so what level of nicotine would be best?
Cignot is where I bought my Joye 510, with same day shipping. I also smoked 1/2 to a whole pack a day for the last 5 years (prior to that I was at 2 packs/day). I started out with 3 vials of the 20 mg. "USA mix," which is similar to Marlboro's flavor. The carts are extremely easy to refill, sanitize & reuse. Good luck. :)

Cignot.com has a $35 no box model that everyone swears by. Heaven Gifts in China has them for $33.50 but the shipping is higher unless you choose slow boat method. Whoever you order from I strongly suggest getting the manual one.

It is really hard to gauge what level nic someone will need. I smoked 2+ packs a day and would get monster headaches on 24mg, while a friend that smoked less than me needed 36mg. I would suggest getting either a 24mg or 36mg liquid and buy either some PG or VG to cut it with. It's easier to go down in strength than it is to go up. And yeah, they are easy to refill but I prefer to drip with mine.

Ah, well, for most of my smoking life I smoked American Spirit non-filters.

I use a JOYE 510. (Cignot is a good place to get them.)

Now for flavor, the closest I have come yet is Freedom from Halo . I have some Harley56 coming which is suppose to be even closer. I have it in 24mg.

I would recommend reading http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/ecf-library/36180-wonderful-world-vaping-illustrated-guide-e-cigs-part-1-6-a.html , all 6 parts.

I do use a higher nicotine liquid for mornings, but the Freedom at 24mg is good for an all day vape for me. And I smoked about the same amount as your husband.

Good luck on your quest!

cignot is out of stock right now. Says more on Thursday. You might take a look at the Tornado - a bit more but the batteries last 6-7 hours each vs. 1.5-2hours on the 510 kit, but you still get the same 510 atomizer which produces the best vapor esp. with the Tornado battery. See:

Wicked-TORNADO E-NI or Electronic Nicotine Inhalator Black.

quick charger.
TORNADO-Mega Powered USB Charger

This is just a 1/4 inch longer than the 510 and a bit wider on the end to accomate the battery - still fits in hand.

With the regular 510 kit - if you're out and about - you need either more batteries or a PCC ($25) so the bigger kit price for the Tornado looks bigger than what you'll spend trying to solve the "battery problem" of the 510 kit. That said, many of us started with the 510 then did 'upgrades' on batteries.

Thanks everyone. I ordered him 3 different flavors of juice from Drew's and I'll order the 510 from cignot when they're back in stock so that I can get him a manual and automatic so he can decide which he likes.

On a side note-I looked up what level of nicotine is in the cigarettes he smokes now to know which level juice to get him and american spirits have the highest level of nicotine of any american cigarette. I guess that explains why he's never been able to quit cold turkey because he has such terrible withdrawals.

Can you get the tornado with a round end instead of the whistle type end? I think that type of end would totally turn hubby off of it.

I know you can with some and I felt the same way, until I tried a whistle tip. I really like them. Easier to hold in my mouth and if I want to bite down to hold it (sometimes you have to as they are heavier than a normal cigarette) its easier to bite the whistle tip to hold it hands free.

I would recommend 36mg to start if his smokes are REALLY harsh and strong. Full flavor Marlboro smokers usually hit the 36 mg first then start to cut down to 24, then to 16.

I started with 36mg and I was smoking ultra lights before I quit.

I now vape anything between 16 and 24mg, the 36 would floor me now.

Litecig's Boxed 510's come in white or black and are only $47. (I wouldve gone with Cignot too but they didnt have white last time I checked)

Be prepared tho...E-cigs can easily become an obsession.

I looked and they do have round ends for the tornado but it only comes with manual batteries and I'm not sure which he would prefer so I'll just buy the cheap kit to get him started. The juice I ordered is 24 mg which should be fine as he smokes 1/2 to a whole pack a day but rarely finishes his whole cigarette. I'm just getting him going with this. After this he's on his own. :) He can come here himself and look around and I have no doubt it will become an obsession for him as I'm sure he would be fascinated my all the mods people do to the ecigs.

Just my Opinion and tastes are different for everyone. As there are a lot of glowing review of nhaler 555 and kent all over the board, I'm going to chime in here and put a negative on those two from them.

I, along with everyone else, in search for that elite tobacco tasting e-juice, bought a bunch of different flavors from a variety of stores.

I still haven't found, what I'm looking for!!! [U2] :p

And though all other juices were on the OK side, the stuff from nhaler (HV 555 and HV Kent) were absolutely horrible. 555 is supposed to taste a bit nutty, and this didn't have that flavor to it. And kent just tasted blah. On top of that, after vaping the 555 for a day, I ended up with this nasty taste in mouth by night time, where each vape, had this sickly sweet tingly taste to it (almost like I'm tasting the nicotine). I started a whole thread on this in the newb section - can't post links yet, so look for this thread in the newb section:

[ overpowering-taste-after-taste-all-liquids-juices.html ]

Now, it could be my atomizer and I did power wash it using DC2's instruction; but I have yet to try the nahler stuff again. I went and tried Cignot's VG 555 (which is OK not great). Or better yet, this could just all be me and my weird tastebuds! So, take it all with a grain of salt. I did not care for those two flavors from nhaler. And I'll probably not order anything else from them.

I was using this in a Joye 510 that I had purchased a week ago from cignot.

I do have on order JC Tenn Cured and TW's Virginia, Hilton and french pipe. I'll post my review for those when I get them. I wish Halo had their stuff in stock and I could try Freedom - but alas they are out and who knows when they'll be back in stock.

Just my 2 cents.

The vapor4life's Virginia Flue Cured has a very authentic Dutch tobacco taste kind of like Borkum Riff pipe tobacco or old Balkan Sobranie(sp?) smokes. Until they get a flavor that tastes like tar and burning, nothing is going to taste like real ciggies.
Does anyone sell flavor concentrates of the tobacco based types? I know I can get the fruity types from candy makers, but are the tobacco imitations proprietary blends?
