I'm just all kinds of help on this subject
Even a 35$ madvapes box mod does the job, but none of them do "everything". When the bat goes flat in your darwin you better have something else to vape. When you slap something else on your Provari or LT you will have to readjust everything.
If it has an amp limiter it may get in the way of using some things on it, but unless you use DCC's or very low resistance atties you will never notice that it has a amp limit. So which one is best has more to do with how and what you vape than anything else.
For the way I vape the best APV is 'more than one'. I don't care which APV someone wants to say is best, if it was the only one that I had it would not satisfy my needs.

Since the Darwin provides 21 - 35 hours of heavy vaping on a charge and also doubles as a pass-through, you would have to be a complete idiot for the battery to go flat. And since everyone but an idiot has a back-up, when you have to replace the battery after 2-3 years of use, that should also not be a problem.

Believe me I'm no idiot! The fact remains that you can not just swap bats on the fly. To some that is a consideration, to others it is not.............

What I object to is throwing out a "one-line" critical remark of a PV with no explanation, leaving the intentional impression that one of the best models on the market will just "die" unexpectently while vaping on it during the day and you will be unable to vape. When you intentionally leave out that it provides consistent full power output for 21 - 35 hours and doubles as a pass-through, which negates the need to carry extra batteries, it proves you are doing nothing but being misleading. But that appears to be your MO.

The Twist barely even qualifies as a variable voltage. It only goes to 4.8volts and it's incremented in .2V steps.
Although the OP has already bought a device, I have a question for sailor....
The eGo-C Twist is a VV device. It is awesome and I really don't understand what you mean by ' barely even qualifies as a VV'.
Also what does 'resorting to a LR carto' mean. Is a LR carto bad that we have to resort to it?

The LavaTube works for me.

I argree with the second post. You WILL get a lot of members stating which VV mod is the best.

For me it's all about a matter of preference. What atty/carto do you use? The Lavatube uses 510 threading (along with a number of other VV mods). The 510 threading is the most widely used/versatile threading for atty's/carto's IMO.

When it comes to VV mods it is all a matter of taste / style / budget. And it all depends on the setup you want.

I am new to vaping and have seen a lot of discussion on what is a good/better/best PV.
There are 5 pages of opinion on this thread and this is about the only mention of atty's/carto's.
My current opinion is that your choice of atty or carto would have as much, if not more effect on your vaping experience.
Am I wrong? Are we all just hardware snobs?

Example a nice lr atty/carto will give the same vape as using high resistence at high voltage.

People who claim one PV is "better" than another for anyone but themselves likely has a narcissism problem and feels they must convince everyone their opinions are the only right ones to validate their existence. Don't buy into their delusions.
Darwin, Lavatube, Ego Twist, whatever.... They're all going to perform the same at a given voltage/wattage as any other using the same voltage/wattage and the same atty/cart (the ones using PWM being a minor exception as some implement it better than others).

Juice is the biggest variable in vaping. Attys and cartos are next. The PV is insignificant in comparison to both of them. It's just a battery.

I'd suggest anyone looking into VV get a Ego Twist since it's the cheapest VV PV I know of that's widely available. Use it to see if VV has any use for you. If it does, then you can explore which one has the styling and features that you feel you want or need.
For me, VV didn't do anything for me. Unfortunately, I took the advice of the vaping hipsters and jumped right in and bought a Provari when I decided to try VV. It sure looked pretty and people seemed impressed with anyone who had one so it wasn't a hard sell. But I spent a week being annoyed at hitting the button a hundred times a day just going through menus and it didn't vape any better than my $30 Volt X2s. I gave it away to a family member and got a Lavatube for use with my carto tanks (which I only use when I need capacity and refilling a cart would be inconvenient) since it's one button for up and one for down and has a very pleasing lack of bells and whistles I didn't care about.

I prefer my simple little Volt X2 batteries with the Vision Ego style clearomizers for every day use as they're what I like best which makes them the best PV for me. If the PV you have now works for you, I wouldn't even bother trying anything else until/unless it no longer does. You're very unlikely to actually get a significantly better experience from something else.

For the price and simplicity I like the VariStack (different names from different vendors). $20 - 30 for device. Voltage up button, voltage down button, and "fire" button. 3-6v.

Thanks for all the answers folks!

I ended up getting the VTube today (the stainless steel finish sold me). WOW. What a difference. Puts my old riva 510 gear to shame. Great pull, clouds and clouds of vapor, and the difference in flavor is staggering.

I'll have to check out the VMax. Smaller might be great for when I'm on the move. Its going to take some getting used to pulling out the VTube in public, given its *ahem* shape and all ;)

OP made their purchase.
