While we all have our own experiences, what we may think is right will just about always differ from what another thinks. Having said that, I'd appreciate it if anyone willing to post will answer these two simple questions:

What has been the BEST VG you've used and where did you get it?

What has been the worst VG you've used and where did it you get it?

I believe that as important as nic choice, VG choice will be the other factor in how well your base comes out. [IMO, PG is basically a constant.] I am thinking I am going to start buying my bulk nic in all PG for better longevity and also to have full autonomy in which VG I use. Previously I was buying my nic in either 50/50 or all VG. But going back to basics, I am going to re-work my base since I have recently seen how different two liquids with [my] same recipe can come out with different nic and different VG.

Believe it or not the worst VG/PG I got was from MFS. For some reason it started out ok but a few months down the road the VG developed a fishy odor to it and tasted almost sour. The PG developed a harshness to it (Present when vaped by itself). I know people rave about MFS products but I've had bad luck with them. Now grant it this was over a year ago when they were having a run of very peppery NIC but in all honesty I have not been back there since and they may have cleaned up there act.

Since then I've been using VG/PG from essential depot and wizard and have been happy with it.

I have used Nude and RTS VG, they are both pretty flavorless to me and barely sweet. The RTS VG seemed a little more viscous, but they seem to vape the same.

Does NN actually sell straight VG? I've only used Essential Depot for the straight up VG, but I am thinking of Bulk Apothecary for my next bulk purchase. Who knows, they may be the exact same. Dunno. I have noticed that occasionally some VGs will have different viscosity, but I've noticed that more form ecig sites.

The worst VG I ever tried was from MFS. It was too thin and made my juices vaporize real fast. It may have been diluted with DW.

The more I think of it, assuming that we are talking about the same grade of VG, I realize that VG likely comes in two forms: VG and not-so-good VG. LOL.

Had VG from a few sources and honestly couldn't spot any difference, but I think I've just been lucky as VG could be anything and I had wondered if they tasted different.

As far as I can tell, I believe that anything that may ever show up as off could come from one of a few issues, 1) the VG may have not been stored properly and been exposed to a lot of fluctuations in temperature (which may be on the users' end) or 2) the VG may've been thinned with water, 3) it could've been old. So aside form the case of being thinned with water, those situations may be isolated and not necessarily an issue with one particular source as much as batches. And it's possible that what I noticed was actually all in my head (though I don't quite think so), in which case I'd be fine not having to buy more. But one thing is for sure, my choice in nic has changed for the bulk of my mixing.

Some VG may be aqueous as it's much more profitable to sell you diluted VG. So it is possible that some vendors product is thicker then others. Nothing wrong with it being aqueous as long as it's noted by the vendor. Some people want their nic and VG to be diluted so all they have to do is add flavor and go. I prefer everything unadulterated and if it needs to be thinned let it by my choice. I stick to Essential Depot as I have been using them since day one of DIY. I'd wager most of the sites selling house branded VG also buy ED by the barrel and simply rebottle it.
