Best way to clean a 510 atty?

So I've had my 510 about ten days or so now. Ordered a few different types of liquid and actually by pure accident ordered the Ruyan 4. Never been a fan of flavored tobacco products but vaping the Ruyan is awesome. Last night I was vaping hard and switched atty's (only have 2 at the moment with more on order) draw was getting hard since I hadn't cleaned/drained the atty's since receiving my 510. Net effect of it is apparantly I "over cooked" the ruyan by drawing real hard and now have that burnt flavor in both atty's. Today I cleaned all my carts thoroughly and did the twisted paper towel method to drain both atty's. Huge improvement in terms of draw and vapor...back to being like new again, however still getting the burnt flavor from both atty's. It seems clear to me that the atty's need more than just draining but a thorough cleaning. Since my spare atty's won't arrive till next week I'm really paranoid about destroying them by washing them with the hot water/blow dryer technique. Any suggestions for me? Should I just wait till the spares arrive and tollerate the burnt flavor for now or is there a safe way to thoroughly clean them? (I do know that I did not melt any plastic on the carts...they seem fine)

I actually already blew em out and am still tasting it. They drained amazingly well however when I used the paper towel method (almost seem better than when new...and I did prime them before re-using) so I'm also considering the possibility that maybe the flavor is just my tongue being a bit fried from vaping so hard in the past 24 hours.

I have yet to try the crest prohealth mouthwash method.. I will try when my new parts order comes in and I have some more spares, i've done blowing out at night, and boiling, soaking and drying and it seems to make the attys worse.. i gave up on cleaning them it hasn't worked for me yet.. i'll just buy a new one every coupla weeks and keep stocked..

Only my 2 cents here, but there are things about vaping that we have to deal with, like having lousy tasting juice and waiting to vape it out til it's gone. ( almost impossible when u try jc juice and that horrible taste stays forever), sorry jc fans.
I just personally don't think that this compulsive daily, weekly cleaning in a myriad of ridiculous different methods is needed.
Considering the fact that I've had atty's last from 1 week to 3 months solely due to the manufacturing of that particular device ( imop), If an atty works, love it, use it, be thankful, and just put another flavor in to get ou the old one after blowing it out.

Stop this cleaning madness, you are not improving anything by thinking you have invented the atty life saver. It works until it doesn't, then it's dead, dead, dead.

... No judgements from me though. :D

Enjoy, happy Vaping !

I soaked mine in coke when i first got them, then put them in a cup of boiling water for good measure. THe primer taste was totally gone after that, and both attys have been working fine since I got them.

My only experience is with the 2 attys that came with my kit. I was willing to take the risk to get rid of the primer taste. I will probably be doing the same thing with all new attys, unless they stop putting that primer on.

I don't do anything to mine but blow them out at night or if flooded. I don't let them get too hot or dry. When they start getting hard to hit on, clogged up I guess, I use them on my Prodigy and it seems to bring them back to life. So far any way as I'm still using the first one I started out with 6 months ago on my Prodigy. I'm using 4 different attys on four different devices and haven't lost one yet.

I still use PGA for cleaning, but only if absolutely necessary. I also use it to remove all traces of juice to store them for lengthy periods. Usually for me a burnt taste is an atty on its' way out. I feel that not cleaning is best but many will still clog with dried up juice or retain a bad taste from some other juices that just won't leave. The PGA turns a dark brown, so I know that it does dissolve dried deposits and there is no drying time because it evaporates so quickly. I actually kept some in a dropper and used a couple of drops in my 510's every once in a while, waited about a minute to soak in and vaped it dry.

I have been at this for about 2 months. I was extremely reluctant about cleaning an atty with any of the mentioned methods. I figured I would keep blowing them out as long as they worked well. If it ain't broke, don't fix it right? Well, earlier this week I had one that no matter what I did tasted burnt. Tried a number of things to fix it from distilled water, to everclear...nothing worked. I figured, at this point I had nothing to lose since it was already hosed. So, I tried the crest prohealth mouthwash. Shazzam! Worked awesome for me. This was a 2 month old atty and it is working now like brand new. No bad taste, heats well, and tons of vapor. I am now a believer in this method. I put it in the crest prohealth mouthwash for about 15 minutes...shaking the container lightly every 2-3 minutes. Ran it under real warm water. Blew it out a couple times. Rinsed again. Then put it in a small bowl of hot tap water for another 10 minutes to get any minty taste our. One final rinse and blew out a couple times well. Dried it with a paper towel and put a few drops of ejuice on. Vaped perfect after the 3rd or 4th hit. Going strong 3 days later....

what is the paper towel method

It's a way to thoroughly drain out the atty's. Works great if they get flooded or start getting really hard to draw. Twist a chunk of paper towel up and stick it in the atty against the wick. Prop it up against something so that the atty is up and towel is down (draining position of course) let it sit over night. Or if you want it done quicker you can change towel every 10 minutes till you pull one out and it's completely dry.

I use plain old boiling hot water to clean mine. Something about something at my mouth and not being sterilized on occasion. I use flavor change time from 10ml bottles as the time to do this, strictly as the timing is good and I dont necessarily like mixed up flavors. And, as previously mentioned, some swaps do not clear out the old flavor to well. Say RY4 to watermelon, Strong to weak. From the electrical standpoint, water does no harm as long as the device does not see current flow until thoroughly dried. In the case of most devices it takes a long time for water to dry out from under chips, but our attys are just a small coil of nichrome wire. And in agreement with another poster, I do not see how cleaning could save an atty, or remarkable extend its life. It could extend its life a little bit, particularly if one vapes a lot of flavors that leave deposits.

I've been using this method for more than 5 months. It works well everytime. You should check the resistance of the atty prior to cleaning. As long as the resistance is between 2 to 4 ohms it should clean very well. It will probably never clean to 100% as well as new but it will give you more life span than doing nothing.

I only clean mine when it's necessary. I also mix my own juice and always include at least 10% PGA in my juice. I do not blow the atty out and let drain over night. It is better to keep the atty very wet. I cap the threaded end with a cart cap and leave a cart on them when not in use.

If the resistance of the atty is greater than 10 to 15 ohms it is going to fail mechanically and probably very soon. I never throw anything away. I put the parts in a "might fix one day" box.

Just remember that atomizers are expendable and will one day quit working all together. Like batteries which are limited to a specific number of charges. They are both expendable.
