Dealing with the temperature would be well worth it to walk and see that view. After all, you can always put more clothes on!
Yeah, it was a beautiful hike today. Boom's sound asleep in the aftermath and I am not sure how I am still awake :)

ETA here is another pic

I beg to differ.....there is a point of coldness, where more clothes don't keep you warm, they keep you alive :p
I experienced that once....arctic circle in winter time, blizzard happened...even our extreme cold weather gear (like mickey boots that you fill with air, etc...) only kept us from getting frost bite, but did nothing for comfort :p

I know that cold of which you speak. I did a hiking trip in Siberia while I was in college. No frostbite, but I don't think I had any feeling for two days.

Yah we have the opposite. Where clothes keep you alive but you can only get so nude with so much icy cold ac and you're still sweating. I experience that six months a year.

Always make me [emoji23] inwardly when my family go to the Sahara and come back to the U.K. Talking about how amazingly oppressive the heat is. Makes me wonder why they thing the Sahara and Senora are so different.

And before anyone says "it's a dry heat". So is your oven, Want to live in that?

So I relished the cold after living in this overheated disaster of a place for half my life. Layers and fire to me are easier than cooling off when you're overheated. I couldn't get enough blizzards for the decade I was gone. I'm sure many from the cold feel the same about basking I the sun mid summer here when it's 118-124.. let's trade ! Timeshares for everyone!

Depends on your activity level too though. But I did wave a flag at -56. I am fine at -30. They make heated clothing, too nowadays which is great for short outdoor ventures.

No way for Sloth...i don't like heat at all. Cold invigorates me whereas excessive heat sucks my energy away.

I don't know what temps we reached that night of the blizzard, but even our humvee heaters couldn't keep up....but the mission must go on. Was in Norway for 2 months, and over all it was a great trip, and I acclimatized well....except for that night :p

I live in the California desert....I am well accustomed to the "dry heat". Used to have a t-shirt that had a skeleton horse and cowboy, captioned "but it's a DRY heat"

There is no truer quote about temperature imo... 30+ yrs in California were the worst in my life mostly due to temperature and the ex-wife...

I love the midwest and any temp it brings me, but honestly...the colder the better!!

Real. It is often colder where I live than most parts of Alaska.

In fact, you have to drive about 5 hours north of me to Quebec City to have temps as cold as here, due to our elevation. Montreal for example is quite warm in comparison.

And I might add that the summits around here can get much, much colder. I think Whiteface was -86 one time (record). Thereabouts...
Please don't say summit.

And everything past the 133 exit was closed to CMV traffic for avalanche control.

All this because yesterday when I left, I80 was closed in 2 places and had chain laws in effect in at least 2 more... before I even got to Wyoming.

I hate chaining up.
