It is impossible to build these to where the button throw is perfect for everyone. Given all the different batteries, and personal preference, as far as long throw vs short throw, yada..... it is simple to dial in the throw to where it's perfect for you. Here's an excerpt from a convo I had with one of our family members who had this same issue.....

Sorry for the dirty mod,... I'm at work, so I'll have to make due with my "workin' mod"...

Here is the contact, under the cap...

In this pic, the little piece of paper is in contact with two things... the bottom of the button, and the little silver nub on the back side of the contact... that's the thing we need to sand down...

You may be able to access the back side of the contact by simply spinning the contact counter clockwise.

the little brass nut, just above the feed tube may have to be loosened up a little for you to be able to move the contact.

From this angle, we can see the part that needs to be sanded or filed down...

As you can see from this angle,... this one has already been sanded down to where there's almost nothing left of it...

To remove the contact entirely, which is what I would do,... first remove the bottle and tube assembly...

Next, remove the little brass nut and washer....

Then you'll want to take and drag the back side of the contact, back and forth on some sand paper, a file, or even better yet, use a Dremmel tool or disc sander/belt sander...

This is what it should look like when you are done...

Just make sure you sand the back side of the contact, and not the side that contacts your battery. :)

Sorry if I overdid the explanation there...

I just wanna make sure we're on the same page. ;)

Also, when you go to reassemble,... make sure the contact is centered on the button, as you tighten up the little brass nut...

I have been sending mods out recently with most of the little silver nub, on the back side of the contact, still intact. That way, for shorter batteries, the throw is not excessive, but for the longer batteries it can be filed down to tailor the throw to your batteries, and your personal preference.

Just let me know if you have any more questions.... :)

I am loving the CC, I just wish 18650 cell height was standardized....

Thanks for the explanation... That is exactly along the lines of what i was thinking with removing the silver nub on the top side of the positive contact...

I also think I am very gorrila like with my button mashing so the longer throw would benefit me...

Thanks for the quick reply

I saw the mxjo batteries but saw 2500mah 35A or 3000mah 20A.
Do you have a link for 3000mah 35A?
Not familiar with mxjo - equal quality to AW, LG, Sony, Sammys?
i dont have a link. i bought them local. ive used the 2500mah for about a year with zero issues at all. sub ohm all the time. just switched the 3000mah. and they are great too. at .2 ohms they have never been hot or given any indication of failure. i am not a battery guy i dont know specs but these worked good for me.

I've never tried flat tops. I think I might give the AW 3000mah 20A a try.
I've always used AW from RTD vapor so I trust I'm not getting a re wrap.

On a second thought I may try the LG HG2 3000mah 20A battery this time around. Something different. Mooch gives them a great review at
He's one of those members that, since he joined, I've wondered how we got along without him before.

After reading his blog I might have to try the LG HG2 3000mah 20A - gives them a great review for less money than the new AWs. I never tried flat tops or any other brand other than AW. Might be time to explore the possibilities!
