I use Micro Mesh when I am doing the final finish on my turned pens. When I noticed the black spot starting on my firing pin I used the Micro Mesh, started with the 3600 and went all the way to 12000, it looks brand new not one sign that it was ever sanded. I have been using the same set of pads for close to three years when they get clogged up they can be put into a bag and run through a washing machine.

Excuse the dumb question here - (this thread is a bit of a monster to hunt through :)) will the silver negative contact make much of a difference to mod performance or is to keep it performing the same as it does wjth a brass contact, but with less maintenance?

Can I please be added to the list for one? I've been searching back pages but can't find it. This may also be due to the fact that's it's past midnight here and I'm just about ready to fall asleep :)

Is it also possible to grab some spares (510 pin and some positive contacts) at the same time once my name comes up please :)

The 510 pin is not something you need to worry about wearing out or breaking on these mods, especially if you specify stainless steel rather than brass.

The positive contact does flex a bit when firing, but the part that flexes is made of Be-Cu, which is a properly springy material, and I don't recall ANY reports of failure so far. That said, I do own a couple of spares, since it's the only part of this mod I think that MIGHT fail in a lifetime of use.
