Tried SS316L today. 9 winds 26g 2.5mm single Z coil on a NarDA.

Pros:
- Very easy to make
- Modest TCR provides useful negative feedback on a mech(Ramp up when cold, back off when hot).

Not sure about the taste yet. Think it tastes differently than Kanthal. More time to break in SS maybe?

Not necessarily.

I can taste nichrome and SS.

I can't taste kanthal.

But I'm also very sensitive to steel and nickel.
