I'm at a loss to understand why you are all so keen on a man that loves what he's doing take a break from it.

Keep the old ....... working i say. If the power is not on by next week, then the next batch will have to be roughed out of barstock with a hacksaw!

Keep pedalling!

Corey, glad to here you and the fam are ok!

Seriously dude? working by flashlight? Give it a rest for a few. Get power back and then worry about mods. "Enjoy" some "respite". Sheesh!

On another note:

I finally got brave enough to start trueing up the mating surfaces on my cc. Around the magnets always made contact but not the front and back edges, and my top cap always had to be squeezed down a hair when I pushed the button to make contact.

I ended up using 1000g paper on a granite slab (which I keep around for projects exactly like this) to shave off a teensy bit.

It improved, but could go a tad more. A larger surface in the middle makes contact, but both ends have maybe a 0.0001 gap. Just enough to see light through.

Ugh. Nerve wracking work, but worth it.

Where can i find a granite slab, a mortuary?

Yes. Though the owner may take offence and you'll end up on an episode of "Paranormal" Activity.

What if the stone is curved? Lasers are the answer.

T

Is that like the "Why is a Raven like a writing desk?" Riddle?

Q: "What if the stone is curved?"
A: "Lasers."

The slab is as true flat a surface as I'm likely to get. It's a cutoff from a counter top installation.
It works on knife fittings, why not for this?

Trunker gets it. :D

I really do appreciate all the encouragement to take a break, though. A break is sorely needed. If I stay on track, I should be able to take one in the next few weeks. :)

In other news,.......things are gettin' pretty dang smoove around here... ;)

Pichers later..... :thumb:

Well, the reason i asked was because you had a tolerance of 10/1000ths of an inch is all.
Being a naturally lazy and idle git, i find any activity paranormal.
