I don't think there's much correlation between durability and weight. In fact, I'd speculate the opposite being true; the heavier mod will sustain proportionately higher forces when it comes to a sudden stop on the floor if you drop it. Mind you, I doubt you'd have anything more that cosmetic damage either way, unless the drop is from stratospheric height, and then, you might see this if the mod is made of brass (or copper):

;)
Does appear to have some extra weight to it:eek: Brass mod is about a half pound heavier if I remember correctly?;)

To comment on the brass/aluminum heavy/durable theme.. I can tell you from experience that either will wear with casual contact in the pocket with keys which hang from above. My Nuppin (all brass exterior) has a much smoother top bevel from a few months' key wear and my 6061 Tmod has a few light scratches (with small amounts of material missing) from similar conditions. It's not like either would be destroyed in my lifetime from it though. If I go brass for a CC I'm sure its top edges will show wear and a barely different shape from my treatment of it. The aluminum would likely have precisely the same shape and some scratches that 1000 grit would remove easily.

So far as dropping the mod.. I expect you'd have to be a couple dozen feet up to get more than scratches and separation on either. The brass might gouge a little more easily though.

I agee, this is 6061 [?] from bus step + arm height, onto high stone content concrete

near the 510, could probably buff it out. The magnets held tight for that drop, and there was no attached attie at the time

I don't think any of the three materials warrants concern on wear and tear, unless perhaps you keep your mod in your tool box at a workshop type job [only b/c I hear that is very rough on mods around the traps]

Love the pics!! Is it just me or do the mods continue to look better with each pair? ;)
I think so too, they look spectacular as usual. And as far as the brass ones go, just order one. You will not be sorry. Love mine.

Looks like a great excuse to run a chamfer mill around the top or mill a couple thousandths off the top if you want to keep the crisp lines. Either way it's easily fixable.

They sure do look amazing, but at the risk of sounding like a broken record from some 10's of pages back.. Remember that brass is HEAVY. This is absolutely not a problem around the house, but out and about it might just be, depending on how you carry your mod.

The brass CC-mod is just a couple of ounces heavier than the squared "T" that sloth is familiar with when both are fully laden. I carry mine daily, but I don't keep it in a pocket. I use my aluminum CC mod for pockets.

Yep,... easy fix!

I would be more than happy to fix it, free of charge! :thumb:
