Everyone's pics come out so nice! Me, I just take my chances and point and shoot. If the pics come out good, fantastic! It's certainly not from my photographic skills! I envy you guys being able to do such nice stuff by camera.
I'm with you, just not a good picture taker.

In the same boat. I've handled some of the best DSLRs out there, and still can't take a decent pic! I've been thinking about making a DIY light box to use instead of my usual dish towel backdrop:D

Do it! I made mine with about $6 worth of materials. I used an old laser printer box, some white muslin from the fabric store and my small staple gun. Took about 10 minutes to make. I have better lighting now than what is shown here but still need some better lights.

I think it was Nathan ( inswva) who did a DIY light box and it came out nice. I might try to make one myself and see if my poor photographic skills improve at all.

Edit: Yup, it was him. Faster at typing than me!

YES! Just like that!! I was thinking of using scrap wood from my shop, and come up with a hinged setup so I can fold it up easily for storage.

A light box is cool, but it removes the challenge of finding an interesting background. ;)

That patina progression is gorgeous!!! Definitely a one of a kind Ross!!!
That was obviously down in Florida, where the humidity is high and there's lots of salt in the air. Now that I'm back in PA, the patina on the parts of the mod that I are constantly in contact with my skin has worn away completely. Those areas are back to bright, shiny copper, and I've done absolutely nothing to the exterior of the mod other than normal use/handling since then. Go figure.

Does it remove the patina, or does it push it away from the points of contact? I end up with bright where my fingers rest and heavy patina around it.
