Yes, it will replace the spring... One of our peeps is gonna do a little moddin' on a couple o' REOs. It's gonna involve drillin' a hole in the bottom of the REO, right below the battery. He had me make 'em long enough so he could do some shimming, to get the height just right for his batteries.

Definitely not a drop in type o' thing. :thumb:

Izzat come wit a drill bit and a tap?

I mean tweet the deets bro.

Good call on the shrink tube. Methinks the silicone is a bit much or the becu strip has to be thin and weak.

No drill bit an' tap... I jus' built 'em to the desired specs. It'll be up to him to make 'em work. I hope he shares the results with us, once he gets 'em goin'. :thumb:

I think you're right about the heat shrink. I sent both with yours, so you could decide which one worked best. I had a feeling the silicone would be overkill. :)

So, you all have me curious about the SS wire!
My lady and I are single coil users. She runs @ 1-1.25 ohms, I run @ .75 ohms.
MTL using RxW wick on 2.5 od coil.
Been going back and forth between 30 gauge twisted and 28 gauge single wire coils.
I assume using the SS I would need to recalculate number of wraps to get to desired resistance since the SS runs with less resistance than comparable kanthal?
I'm on the fence whether to order 28g or 30g or both and experiment.
Any thoughts? I want the most surface area to get to desired resistance but not so many wraps that it won't have a nice fit using a Nuppin or RM2 atty or delayed ramp up time.

my advice is to try it out using the same wraps you normally would with kanthal....it will be a little lower ohms, but the heat flux properties of SS is also different, so try a build as you normally would, and adjust from there.

coil parameters: 2.5mm ID, 28 gauge wire, 6 wraps.....
Kanthal 1.15 ohms, heat flux per watt 15.43 (heat capacity 16.99)

SS 316l 0.59 ohms, heat flux per watt 15.43 (heat capacity 20.8)
adding just one more wrap only brings the SS ohms up to .68, but brings the heat flux down to 13.37 per watt

Got it, thank you!

So SS running at .68 ohms resistance is less heat than Kanthal @ 1.15 ohms?

:w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t::w00t:..............that is fantastic!!! Symmetry! Is that a black bottle?

No, I wish we could source black bottles tho. Its Dark Honey Tobacco from Aroma Juice, very dark color to it.

I did try the black bottle from the DripBox tho.....no go....too big for our CC's :(

Quick update.....

There are only a few people remaining on the list, and only one is ready, right now, for me to build their mod. That person has graciously allowed me to start on their mod next week, so that I can get caught up on some other small parts that I've been needing to get done. Spare positive contacts, pins, buttons, yada......

So,....I'm just gonna take it kin'a easy this week, and build these parts at a nice leisurely pace, and try not to get too wound up about it.

Try being the key word here....

Also, too..... the last of the 7068 has been claimed. So, basically,... I gots no aluminum, at the moment. A quick check of stock reveals that I am down to 2 brass, one of which is spoken for, and 3 copper, which I believe that one of them is kin'a spoken for, so to speak... maybe...

With all that bein' said, this is what I was shootin' for, way back when I decided to increase production from 2 per week, to 5 per week. I've said it before, but the weight of a long waiting list is stressful, for me at least... I didn't like the fact that so many people were waiting on me to complete a job for them. It has driven me to work 7 days a week for almost a year now.

As long as there's work hangin' out there, it's hard for me to just shut down and relax. Like EVER.... It's an affliction...

I'd like to think that the 5 per week is a thing of the past, and won't be necessary, any longer. Don't get me wrong, I still wanna build mods, and I intend to, just not at such a fevered pace that I let it consume every minute that I'm not at my day job, or sleeping.

Dang! That's a lot of words^^^^^^^.....

Sorry 'bout that.... I just wanted to let everyone know where I'm at with things. :thumb:

TL;DR version.......I'm tired......need a rest.....gonna slow down a little....for a while...
