You will get black spots ...

The only way to avoid it is something that I haven't tried yet which is no ox id. The guys are saying it will prevent it. It is not a mod problem it is that the batteries are made with really crappy metal that cannot withstand 0.2 ohms without oxidizing. There is no running away from maintenance at these resistances with ANY mod!
Aal, by far and away No Ox ID is the best I've tried however, you will still need to maintain your contacts just much much much less often as long as you apply No Ox Id as needed...

@Aal_ @Moxienator

Thanks guys, the silver contact will come with the mod as I "ordered" it together. I will definitely try NoOx paste thing. Additionally I will follow sloth's advice to try 0.3 ohm resistance as the mod seems to hit harder than the reos.
May be I will give some other batteries a try. As I heard that the LGs HG2 have a better material for the positive contact.
The etching and pitting on your batteries is from a poor contact on the REOS.

The smaller the point and the poorer the contact, the hotter the arc and the worse the pitting.

Also, the BETTER the battery delivers and holds current, the worse the etching.

The only reason an hg2 etches less is because of less heat due to less current handling capability.

With Corey's contacts, your REOs WILL hit as hard as any other BF mod out there.

It's nice to have a beater around...

Beck my pitting is on a cc mod. Let me make that clear, I have never had a mech bottom feeder that didn't pit:

CC

Pinch (the least because of no moving contact to battery design, so pitting between the silvers which is far less and easier to remove)

Dibi Oliver

Peko

Reo

I pit on all :D

I just logged onto youtube and saw a comment posted recently about the CC mod. The commenter said they liked the Opeth I played at the end of the video about CC mods. Was that you by chance?

No, wasn't me. But I like too. As I am a bit weird about music. I like the swedish guys same as the very nice and smooth jazzy stuff in your video. Would like to know what this smooth stuff is.

Pre-Heritage, for me. I respect Mikael's choice to preserve his voice, but haven't been feeling the whole shift in style since then. Still Life/Blackwater was my fav era!
Those are my 2 favorite albums. God, Blackwater is amazing. I do like the newer stuff, but fully agree, they were better back in the day :) almost a totally different band.

I was playing some Blazo in the Maker video...think that's what you're referring to. Colors of Jazz...great album :thumb:

It's the contrast/fusion of blues & jazz with the metal that really drew me in. Such talent!

On the left... before new contacts
On the right... after new contacts

Dang, I've never had a battery look like that one on the left...
And that's after its been filed down a few dozen times AND with use of deoxit gold from day 1... AND with REO sub ohm contacts.

Battery on the right gets almost no maintenance. IF I think to do it, it'll get a quick slather of deoxit or no-ox-id MAYBE once a month.
