Bickford Flavorings

Heylo!

I've looked at all the threads on these guys and they all seem to be very old. So I'm looking for some up to date info on these flavorings.

Does anyone still use these flavorings? I never hear them talked about, nor do I ever see them in any recipes I look up online. Is there something wrong with them?

If people do still use them, what flavorings would you recommend? Is their Vanilla Custard any good? How about Vanilla Cake?

I don't know... Any help would be appreciated!

I think I found a few older posts long ago when I was looking around, if I remember right they were so-so some good some bad, and needed around the same percentages as TFA often being 8-12%

So I just got my flavors in, I got their Vanilla Custard and Sweet Cream. The Sweet Cream seams like a normal sweet cream flavoring but the Vanilla Custard is very interesting! They actually used Vanilla Extract in the flavoring ( Ingredients: PG, Cold-Extracted Matter of Madagascar Bourbon Vanilla Beans, Water, Alcohol (35%BV), and Natural Flavors). Everything looks kosher, I mean no oils or anything. I'll get around to mixing some tonight to see how they do. I doubt this VC will replace my Caps VC but we shall see. Another positive is they are 30mL bottles for a pretty good price and they included a 10% off for next time.

I bought the sample pack one time about a year ago.....mixed them up and "meh" I was never able to taste it so I gave up on it myself...The old post said that you needed to use high flavor percentages I mixed at 20% and it didn't work..I will be waiting to see how it works for you

Yeah, it ill just have to spend some time with it's cap off. Getting ready to mix something right now.

Might have to put it out in a large bowl or cheesecake pyrex to air out Is those the only two you picked up?

Yeah, these are all I got. I didn't want to invest in a whole bunch if no one was talking about them, ya know?

You know, there is another brand I'd love to try that isn't mentioned much here too, but hesitant because of the warnings of one instance in this forum (Propagated by one person spreading stuff all over the web due to a bad encounter) is candyflavors.com

The sweet cream just says 'PG and Natural Flavors' which is kewl! Ooh! Interesting! I will take a look at them as well. What was the bad encounter?

That's nice on the sweet cream, I'd have higher hopes for it due to that. I can't exactly remember what it was, stalking and harassing a problem customer I think. Mainly that person started ruckus with them by starting problems with an order issue and then looking up unrelated private (non-business) related personal issues and posting about them in their thread, and they started harassing in return, threatening phone calls, etc. And other members chimed in to confirm, mostly based on the bad reports online in unrelated business and personal issues. I think that's about the gist of it, but I could be remembering wrong, last I looked it up was about a year ago I think.

Each time they are brought up here by users that stuff is all referenced again and every says steer clear, so I'm not sure if the shop owner is really crazy and we should steer clear, or if it's all continued fear-mongering? Their flavors all look great for vaping though, they have a line designed specifically for vaping and have many custom flavor combos that aren't around most other places. I do plan to try them sometime, just haven't got there yet, if you do please make a thread like this one for them too, thanks!

There has been more than one bad experience with candyflavor. Big Chief's was one of the worst though.

Full disclosure, Big Chief is a RL friend of mine.

I got to hear about stuff that wasn't posted though.

But I'm not the type of person who usually tells another who they should not do business with, because that is a personal choice.

I just wanted to update this thread. I got around to sampling the Vanilla Custard juice I made with these Bickford flavorings. Surprise... It's amazing! It came out fantastic! It's probably the most real vanilla custard I have ever tasted!

My opinions are now very positive on Bickford. They do require higher percentages, just like FW.But I am impressed so far.

Here is the recipe I used:
Vanilla Custard (Bickford) - 15%
Sweet Cream (Bickford) - 10%
Ethyl Maltol (ECX) - 3%
Sweetener (ECX) - 2%

I would give them a go if you're looking to venture out on the big 5 (Caps, TFA, FW, Hangsen, and INA).
