Nice Ed. I have seen something similar. They are called punch pliers. We encourage people to learn to punch their own cartos eventually. It makes it where you can get the proper flow for your specific juice/carto combination.

Nice find :)

Understand and figured it would be next to impossible to get a window there and make it functional.

Speaking of jigs and such, I was forwarded a link to a thread that could be beneficial in regards to punching cartos.

Now I haven't tried anything yet so I do not know if it works well, how easy it is to use, etc. etc. but it sure is an interesting yet simple\brilliant idea:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/226475-thank-me-later.html

Just figured I would pass on any helpful\interesting ideas regarding punching cartos and once I get one I'll let everyone know my experience.

Thanks, just trying to help anyone in any way I can.

I tried a set of punch pliers from Amazon and while they might have worked, the jaws wouldn't open wide enough (TWSS) ;)

I'll try to make it over to Radio Shack around lunch time and try on some of the old CE2's I have lying around. Not sure if they will be the same since cartos have that filler and CE2's are hollow but maybe this will do until I convince you to make one :) LOL or at least be a prototype tester for ya on that, sorry had to try.

Holler atcha later and thanks again for that super fast shipping.

You're welcome for the fast shipping. We are currently on a 27 day same day order/shipping streak. I am sure it will end eventually but for now...just call me JETER! :D (my apologies to all the Red Sox fans out there) :)

LOL:) ok JETER...

Well I got the one at Radio Shack:

RadioShack® Gauged Wire Stripper/Cutter - RadioShack.com

And it didn't really work for me or at least didn't work just out of the box and trying to use it.

I tried using blank CE2 tubes:

I tried using the CE2 while it was still attached to a connector:

I even tried using one of my old attys as this tube was very strong:

But as you can see from the pics, it mainly either just put divots in them (which would be good to then use a nail and hammer) or it put divots and then bent the tube but absolutely not one hole. I think the issue is if you try to use the one closest to the cutting end, the end of the blade or cutter rubs against the carto preventing it from going down so I also tried the next to last tip but still same results.

I don't have any cartos yet but using the three different tubes above, I don't think using an actual carto would make much difference.

I also heard back from a friend who got the Harbor Freight one and they said it worked ok, crushed the carto a little bit and one side didn't cut through as well as the other and just had to switch sides but for $5 it was a great alternative.

So guess I'll just wait until I can get a carto punch jig somewhere (hint hint :)) and for the time being try to be as consistent as I can with the old hammer and nail. There was a video of another punch someone was working on but since it's for different products I didn't feel right posting here but had a good design.

Take care.

Hint taken Ed. My wife (Lil' Mama for those of you who didn't know) made me a jig out of wood (she loves woodworking) that works beautifully for me! It may not be as pretty as some of them out there but it is very functional. I will see if I can get her to make some to put on our site.

She has some things she is working on that I think you guys will LOVE! I can't give details...(I would never make it out of the doghouse if I let the cat out of the bag! :) )

She has been busy working on it. I am sure she will get back to the forums once she has something that she is happy with.
Also, tomorrow is her birthday. (not saying how old so dont ask! :D ) I am sure she would love to hear from you guys. Her username on the forums is Lil' Mama

Sounds cool about the jig, as long as it's functional and doesn't tear up when using, I am all for simplicity. I am also all for schmoozing to get extra items I can buy LOL so will definitely send her a B-day message.

Trust me, I know all too well about the doghouse situation but anticipation is supposed to be fun..right?

Just so you guys have a heads up, we are running dangerously low on our Stainless Steel tank caps. (I think as of right now we have 7 or 8 sets left) I am so far up my machinist's .... about this that when I spit...it comes out of his mouth!! :D

It should only be a few days until we have more in stock.

@ED-209: Have you tried your tank on a punched CE2? That is my next little experiment. :)

Got my tank a couple days ago, vaping away and still getting to know exactly how the tank and DC carto want to be used. I am on my second 5ml's, and I am still continuing to get a lot of bubbles. Any recommendations, maybe another punch in the carto tube?

Also, tank fits nicely on the Prodigy V3.1... though I do see some Alu or SS caps soon, even if just for looks.

Does the carto seem to be tasting dry? If so, another hole would not hurt. This is why we highly recommend people learn to punch their own cartos. It is cheaper and you can tailor the holes to fit your vaping style/juice thickness.

Looks great on your Prodigy! :)

It's sort of a yes and no, sometimes the carto is getting fed properly and sometimes not. When the bubbles (and vapor production decreases) appear I know I have to prime it with a few dry pulls.

Overall though, excellent work. The tubes grab the carto just enough not to go anywhere but enough to adjust its position on the carto.

No, haven't tried that. I am kinda done with CE2's. I used them before, then went to carto tanks and then the only reason I went back was because I was tired of seeing burnt filler, got paranoid but I am proudly going back to the cartos and got a Lil' Mama tank on it's way to me. The CE2's are nice and I got no complaints when I get the right vape but they can be finicky at times with not wicking enough or over wicking but maybe it's just me. I don't think they would work good as punched in tanks just because the wicks cannot be constricted in a small tube like they are when you first get them, and that's what spawned the CE2 tanks, allowing the wick to be more open made them actually work better. Again they work great but I am a simple man and I like simple things. I think what I was getting paranoid about with scorched\burnt filler I think it is just burnt on juice which also happens with CE2's, attys and everything that vapes juice but I can say when I was using the carto tanks, I got NO burnt taste at all, even when I did see scorched filler.

But to each their own, that's just my experience and I am no expert but I've tried a lot of things out there. Would review things but just don't want to do the whole camera things, etc. but I am always happy to help anyone in any way I can from my past and current experiences.

Sorry for the novel, if you've ever seen any of my classified posts, you know I tend to go overboard on too much information :) and don't mean to take over this thread or take it off topic of those great looking and functioning tanks :)

Skinnee, I use a sharpened 1/16" drive pin punch on our cartos. You might either try something like a 3/32" punch using one hole, or just punching 2 holes with a 1/16". It is definitely trial and error but once you get it right...THE PERFECT VAPE! :)

Cubfan says he uses a deck screw to punch his...the threads keep it from going in the carto too far and disturbing the air tube.

When I was using carto tanks, on my 1st fill I would do a good bit of dry hits, kinda like vaping without pushing the button. I would see bubbles coming out of the holes so I knew it was wicking and I would continue to do that until I didn't see bubbles anymore or I started getting any kinda of gurgle. Then I would start vaping at a lower voltage just to make sure I got some flavor before I went all out at higher or my desired voltage because I have noticed once you vape a dry carto and get that burnt taste, that's it, and I would always then get that taste but that's just me.

I haven't gotten my 1st tank and now I gotta get another cool colored one LOL Well I figure as word keeps getting out, these will be the hot ticket item and when you add top notch service...you'll be in for a busy time but that's a good thing :) Then you can expand to FL and I can help LOL I am always looking for investment opportunities :)

LOL...nice Ed. We are all creepy at times. :D

I just noticed that where you are located is not far from Kansas City, MO. I might have a trip scheduled to come up there soon, that would rock, I could save on shipping :)

Ok, that sounded creepy, don't want you or anyone to think I am some kind of creepy fan-boy stalker...sorry about that..
