well after owning the Echo-E (manual battery) for about 3 months now i had a major failure. while at work i took a hit sat it down to help a customer. can back smelt somthing burning picked up the ecig and it burned my hand realized the button got stuck. if this would have been in my pants i wouldnt doubt that it would have caught fire. now im afraid to use the other battery. im not sure if the battery itself blew up or not. its suppose to have a 10sec shut off which failed. has anyone else had this problem?

Some thoughts/guesses:

A shorted atty will NOT cause the unit to keep firing (not directly anyway). So it has to be circuitry failure or "button failure". I put that in quotes since the button is part of the circuitry. And a shorted atty can cause failure of circuitry, which will cause this.

Examples of failures:
1) juice gets in button and into circuitry, shorting out stuff. Also seen on automatic units (no button) with juice getting inside the sensor hole in the connector.
2) LR atomizers/cartos can cause the circuitry inside to overheat and fry/fail. (Reported. Less common nowadays)
3) shorted atomizers/cartos can cause the circuitry inside to overheat and fry/fail, similar or related to #2.
4) Random circuitry failure (rare with ICs, but it happens that sometimes they fail).

Probably circuitry issue, since you indicated that the auto cut-off didn't activate.

Toss/recycle the battery, or send it back for replacement if under warranty.
