Mwa,

I am only asking because i don't understand but I have had my GGTS since the first batch and have had no leakage using the cap update. Are you guys disassembling the top cap or something? I don't understand how the orings are getting damaged because I've never had to take mine apart since day one.

Rob,

For some reason my Orings came lose then my interior threads on my plastic cap update got messed up too, I installed this cap update perfectly so I dont understand how this happens but it did. my Brass screw just spins now and will not get snug this is the problem and why I am suggesting that there should be a metal sleeve inside of the plastic slevee to screw that screw into, if this was like this the plastic threads inside of the black plastic sleeve could never get stripped because there would be the metal sleeve screwed into that one then the brass screw, then the brass screw could never get messed up if there where a brass or metal sleve (very small that screwed into the inside of the black plastic one, then we could screw that brass screw into metal threads instead of plastic ones, you understand what im saying here

and no I have never disasempled my top cap ever since I installed the cap update and it was perfect when I installed it, I also think it has something to do with using different style and different stles of Attys having to tighten the Attys down differently and the center pin and that screw moving, thats why it got messed up in my opinion

somewhere out there......
Some may disagree but I use a toothbrush, dish soap and warm water.

Dry as best as possible when clean.

LOL I use Dawn and the exact method to clean my threads and center post..... Only when the top of the center post gets to be hard to clean is when I take it apart... but it goes back together no problem.... I've done this at least 4 times already since the new update. If the o-ring pops off just make sure to put the o-ring exactly where it needs to be before puting it back together. Oh I only use one o-ring not two on the center post it's a lot easier to take apart and put back together and I have had no leakage inside the GG yet.

Been talking to Rob, seems like it could have been some of my batteries? Its working fine for him..

I was very curious about the non working GGTS. Thats impossible if you clean it well as you did. So maybe your batteries were false. How many pairs of them you had tried Kenny?

ps..... maybe you forgot to screw the telescope a little more?

while we're on the question of top caps...

How do you guys go about cleaning them? Especially the leak collection groove, which is around the connector? Mine's all gunked up by now, but not even a tissue gets through there.

you have to take off the connector to clean this place properly urba my friend. Unscrew the polygonal nut and then unscrew the nail. Please DONT LOSE THE 2 O-RINGS that they are inside the plastic. Then unscrew the connector with a key but you have to keep the cap very tight with your hands. After cleaning, put the connector back and screw it tight. Then screw the nail and then the polygonal nut. Keep in mind that o-rings have to be around the nail while you put nail inside the connector

ps....... if o-rings stay inside the plastic then put them out by pushing them with the nail from the opposite side of the connector

I put 2 o-rings just for safety but 1 o-ring will work well too buddy

Excellent! Thanks for all the info! Just received the package from Lisa containing all the stuff needed to clean my GG and cleaned it all out :) Seems like I put it all back together alright, it's definitely working... took a while to figure out where the o-rings have to go and only found this post now, confirming what I've done.

Now let's see how long this thing stays shiny after the whole cape cod polishing experience :)

On Kenny's cap update the Delrin piece will not come off of the large brass hex nut. It just spins and spins. If I could get this apart I could replace the o-rings but I can't get it off without damaging the Delrin threads.

That happened because Kenny screw very hard the polygonal nut on the delrin. Kenny, dont use pliers for this, only screw it by hand. Polygonal nut and nail will not go anywhere because metal with plastic makes a very tight screw:)

Rob, if you dont have plastic then please send a new update cap to Kenny and charge me. If you dont have updates then I will send one to Kenny.
