In trying to figure out how to fine tune my home-brew blend I've been thinking a lot about sweetness vs harshness/dryness, and all the complexities in that - even describing it is very hard!

My first more serious attempt (extract+base+3drops M-type ad 10ml) was initially far too "dry", "harsh" or "heavy". Then on about day 7 or 8 it turned sweet, very sweet.

Take two is steeping right now, and I haven't even tasted it yet. The addition were vinegar and EM, the M-type was dialed back a lot, the extract a little, PG/VG adjusted towards more VG.

The "dry/harsh/heavy" of the initial blend was too much, hence the vinegar and EM. But what if it turns too sweet again?

Is it total madness to use both Bitter Wizard AND EM in the same juice? Would the BW just cancel out the EM, or would the BW work more on the inherent sweetness of VG and PG?

I have no experience at all with bitter wizard but as for the EM, it doesn't necessarily sweeten when used at lower percentage. A few drops of EM to a mix will add body, whereas going higher will bring on the sweetness factor. Hoosier has an excellent post here somewhere on EM ratios and what to expect. Maybe he'll see this and chime in. He's got quite a bit of experience in the tobacco mixing department so I highly recommend searching the forum for his posts. If I find the thread on EM, I'll report back with the link. :thumb:

Hmmmm, something else I should blog about? Lyndagayle may have been referring to http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/diy-e-liquid/234731-question-em.html#post4434416?

I really should blog about tobacco flavorings, EM, and some other stuff I keep repeating too.

OP, you are not crazy, in fact the idea seems perfectly reasonable to me. (But maybe that's because I'm crazy?)

Yep, yep, that would be the post I was referring too. Thanks Hoosier! Indeed, you have some great ideas for blogging material. :thumb:

Please blog about this*, Hoosier!

And thanks for the link - I have been reading up what I have found on EM, but now when I have test-vaped my first application of it, I am extremely confused. I shouldn't even be able to taste it at the very low concentration I used, but I can't find any other reason for a rather unpleasant über-sweetness.

*"This" meaning balancing sweetness in general, and particularly the use of Bitter Wizard

I found, if I add a little of Bavarian cream to a tobacco mix. It's smooths out the rough edges.
